A Nice Rotax 2-Stroke Replacement?

This looks like it could be a nice replacement for Rotax 2 strokes:

http://www.swissmotorengineering.net/ASE_2.htm

77hp @ 52kg
€6000 for the engine and €2000 for the reduction drive.

Seems to be around the same power/weight/price as the Rotax 2 stroke engines, but much more economical to run.

Like the Rotax, this is also an engine that was originally designed for power sports (buggies, go carts, sleds, etc) and is (apparently) proven reliable in racing use.

I am just waiting for their price on the turbo version ;) .

I do like the turbo version.... can run it 100hp at 5000rpm without the turbo kicking in! vhpy

Seeing as it is the same 750cc motor, I somehow doubt it ;) .

Turbo version is not available yet (still testing). Est price €9,000. Getting up there price wise, but certainly better than €20,000+ for a Rotax turbo...

These engines are all single ignition, single ECU (as seems to be the norm these days). I would be tempted to design a failsafe system (fixed spark + metered drip TBI) if I had to use one.
