I got a reminder from the Aero club to renew for next year. Do we rather continue paying the fees direct to MISASA or do I use fundi? What are the new combined fees for 2013?
Thanks
Stefan

The minutes of our AGM last October are on the MISASA Microlighters thread and on the MISASA website. The members in AGM took the decision to reject Fundi. A special general meeting is required to overturn a decision of the membership. Yes, believe it or not we are a membership association and are bound by the membership's decisions. At the moment I am somewhat bewildered by the variety of alternative interpretations on the status quo.
The Aero Club have ignored MISASA's notifications. Ok , so relax - this is not new. We gave them notice at the AGM that we will not use Fundi. I have too received notices to pay them. I have also received notice from them that the system is not working and that the date of acceptance of payment has been postponed. I hear tell that others may not and that others will not use Fundi.
Let me explain - at the Aero Club we made a stand on the non-performance of the system. Others stood up and protested it's beauty! It did however transpire that these satisfied suitors did in fact not use critically important services that Fundi is supposed to provide. We gave Fundi the responsibility of managing our database. The address list is, at best not usable - and as a result I have had a magazine sitting in my garage for a few months waiting for an address list.
After the Aero Club AGM - section after section - expressed concerns and offered examples of their problems - this has gone on from the after meeting "Castle Talk" to the last e-mail that I got 30 minutes ago.
Eish! Yes, I am bewildered - it seems that the facts are..... ? but ..... I hope that they materialise so that we can take a decision that is not based on the latest rumour.
SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING OF MISASA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN ON THIS 6TH DAY OF NOVEMBER 2012 THAT ON THE 6TH DAY OF DECEMBER AT 7PM A SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING OF MISASA SHALL BE CONVENED TO DISCUSS THE AGM DECISION TO NOT USE THE FUNDI SYSTEM. THIS MEETING SHALL FOLLOW AN ELECTRONIC FORMAT AND IT SHALL BE HELD ON THE MICROLIGHTERS FORUM WHERE A VOTING POLL SHALL DETERMININE THE DECISION OF THE MEMBERS ON A REVIEW OF THIS MATTER. SUCH OTHER BUSINESS AS IS RAISED UNDER "GENERAL" BY A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING SHALL BE CONSIDERED BY THE MEMBERSHIP WHO SHALL VOTE THEREON BY ESTABLISHED ELECTRONIC FORMAT.
So - there you have it - we modernised the MISASA constitution in line with suggestions at the Heidelberg AGM and which were supported by all. Let us now see if the membership is represented by the four corners of SA!
Looking forward to meeting you at the meeting!!
PS - My ISP has been banned by the MISASA hosting servers for a month or so - but - it seems I am back.

AeroclubSA Fees : R 330 MISASA Fees : R 390 SAGPA Fees : R 255
For those that have already used the system and paid using the link provided by Fundi... your thoughts on the system as it is now please. Also let me know what problems you experienced... (any problems!!!!)
I used the link provided, took me straight to the CART for payment. I purposely LOGGED out, used the link again, terminated the "existing" session as it instructed me to and continued to complete the payment. I found the process much easier with the changes and modifications we had asked for. So for me, the system is more functional than before. I have been checking each transaction for data/information entered and have e-mailed a couple of persons for additional info I want on the system and also edit the format of the address to that of how we want it. Make sure your ID No is entered correctly as this will be used later for referencing with RAASA.
I give and examples for the address format:
PO Box 12345
NKANDLA
0007
South Africa
123A Kwazulu Drive
Tax Payers Compound
NKANDLA
0007
South Africa

I attended an Aeroclub board meeting last week and we had a robust discussion around Fundi. We were given assurances that the system had undergone the changes that we had requested and that it would work seamlessly. I, as the treasurer, would prefer to use a system that makes life easier for everyone and from the feedback received this morning it seems that the system is working, including providing correct addresses. I would therefore recommend using the Aeroclub email link to make your payments if you want to pay before the special meeting and if the vote held at the special meeting reflects otherwise we will inform the membership on what the alternative might be....

I need to use this thread for the importance of paying in December 2012 & January 2013.
Aeroclub & sub-section membership runs from January to December.
As customary practice, so many choose to only pay these fees when their ATF is due or Licence is up for renewal. Let it be known, that this is not the correct procedure. You run the risk of not being "legal" due to either MISASA or SAGPA having ARO status. It is thus imperative that you pay ASAP!

All MISASA members that want to pay their membership fees for 2013 can use the Fundi system until the outcome of the December 6 special meeting. Should for any reason this meeting not be in favour of using Fundi, a notice will be conveyed to the members with alternative instructions. This decision will in no way have influence any payments made via Fundi prior to the 6th of December 2013.

Having spent 36 years in IT, I can tell thousands of stories of systems that had been tested to perfection only to disappoint when going live, revealing minor glitches, bugs and quirks. Nothing in life is perfect or runs to a perfect schedule or always happens as planned. Fortunately humans are wonderfully adaptive and thats what makes us superior to other creatures.
I just renewed my Aeroclub/SAGPA subscription through the Fundi System and, although it was a little slow, it worked flawlessly!
I may be wrong but I consider voting for the abandonment of the Fundi system, at this late stage of the game, as counter productive and not in the interest of the members.
I believe that the system will go a long way to resolving the membership issues for once and for all. Why duplicate the administrative overhead at MISASA and SAGPA and other ARO's when it already exists at Aeroclub? Doesn't make logical sense.
I, for one, will be voting for the Fundi system to stay and I encourage all SAGPA members to do the same!

Had to renew AC and MiSASA last week to renew ATF. The online system was unavailable. Did EFT and mailed details to AC and forwarded proof of pmt to RAASA. Got my ATF yesterday, so now just hope I receive membership card. I was member of EAA till now, and this is first time I took up MISASA membership.

If you do not renew In December for the following year....and then go fly after Jan 1st 2013....you are not a legal pilot according to the Law. Simple. To excercise the Priveledges of your licence...you have to be a paid up member of Aeroclub and your applicable ARO (Misasa) at ALL TIMES.
You fly at your own peril if you do not follow this procedure....and should you have an incident, it will be one of the first things your insurance Co looks at. I garuantee you all that.
I renewed yesterday using my CC and the Fundi System....no major issues.

I am not so sure what all the HoHa is about and have not been following all the treads on this matter, but I just renewed my AeroClub and SAGPA fees using Fundi, as I did with my 1 st registration last year. In and out in 8 minutes all done and dusted!
Well done all that manage the systems at AeroClub and of course SAGPA. Last year I got a call from AeroClub to say my membership card was ready within 48 hours of paying, well done guys.
Thank You
P

Let me clarify... most of the sub-sections only used Fundi as a payment portal and still do. We use the system in its entirety and thus one could say have been the guinea pigs in bringing about the changes you now see.

Just something that lifts an eye brow.... This from the first lot of members that have paid.... still early days but the most active age group in MISASA was born in the 1960's
1940 - 7
1950 - 18
1960 - 28
1970 - 13
1980 - 7
1990 - 1
Wow... 1 pilot born in the 90's and a member of MISASA
Something has to be done to get the younger pilots into the sport!
