Import duties

Hi All,

Can anyone tel me were or how I can find out what the import duties is going to be if I bring in a prop? Looking to buy a GSC prop.

I brought in a GSC prop from Green sky and only had to pay VAT 14%

Hi Jaco... our dear government values your purchase at 110% of the original purchase price, upon which you are then charged 14% VAT. If you buy from a Company overseas, there is no way to jippo the import tax, however many people that purchase from private individuals, request that the purchase price be hugely "discounted" invoice wise, in order to affect a saving.
Thus... most new items = hoes en betaal!
Have them send the prop straight to you, without using an import agent, thereby saving on "freight clearance costs" , dues as well as "unpack charges"

What effect would import duties have on an engine, cowl, or landing gear?
