E-Volo goes so far as to call the handling needed to pilot the aircraft “child’s play,” saying that “it takes off and lands vertically and the pilot pays little or no attention to the flight path angle, minimum speed, stall, mixture control, pitch adjustment and many other things which make conventional aviation so demanding.”

The judges cited the craft's "breakthroughs in redundancy, simplicity of controls and inefficiencies inherent in the control surfaces normally used in aircraft" as major selling points for the multicopter.

So how well does it autorotate?
Oh, it can't autorotate? That's a shame as it's an FAA requirement to be able to autorotate.
Oh, it's electric is it? What is its range? Gosh, only 20 min endurance.

ger koff, please don't be short-sighted! No research of this nature is ever wasted. It always leads on to something! Why not compliment their efforts even though it still has some big and fiery hoops to jump through!

BTW: If you can deploy a ballistic parachute vertically upwards from the helicopter, why would it need to autorotate? I'm not an expert, but just putting it out there!!

Enjoy the post! Try to smile! vhpy It's Friday!!! (^^)

And what's more, I'm sure that thing could still fly on 10 propellers!!!
