THE MICROLAND THREAD..."Home of the Tailwinds"
Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."Home of the Tailwinds"
Hi Bundy
Great wright up about your trip. Nice to see you guys doing all these things together.
I am all alone here and have the sky, a 1500m runway and a hangar all to myself.
Can get quite lonely here, even the radio never bleeps anything.
Have a look at the my video and apologies for hi-jacking your thread.

Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."Home of the Tailwinds"
Alan, a superbly written report Such an enjoyable weekend, shared by like minded aviators.
I cannot believe that barely 4 days ago I had a samoosa strapped to my backside, flying close formation with fellow tailwinders, having an absolute blast. Now sitting halfway around the world, offshore Brasil
To meet some of the forum names in person...a privilege Le boss, Warmbaths will definitely see me again. Oom Polla, lekker gesels, Madman and the chain gang: the spirit of microlighting. Paul Meaningwell: gyro's make me think...
Even though I was scared out of my wits flying the last stretch from Microland to Secunda in severe turbulence, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Thank you all for an unforgettable weekend.

Great vid and wow what spectacular topography....much more than we have in Bapsfontein that's for sure!
Andries, have a good stint in "Brazzaville" chom and please let me know when your return dates are booked for? Will try arrange something for when you back in SA so you don't miss out.
Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."Home of the Tailwinds"
Nice report Alan. I can see you guys really enjoyed yourself. Hope this wet your appetite for Barberton & Africa Cup next year.
As you stated, there is flying the cabbage patch,..... the familiar, relatively easy stuff,..... and then there is cross country flying, where you realise how little you know, associated with a steep learning curve. Cross country usually comes with very challenging and dawning times, full of variables and first time experiences. Aviation at it's very best.
I am thinking of a trip for next year. Mervyn suggested something local (RSA) and then another cross border trip the year after. Lets discuss at the Christmas event.

This really is a very special group of people.
Also a BIG thank you to Hugo for flying in the big red man for the kids, and of course our loyal Johaness!
Too many to thank, we had a great time!

Fantastic event, and getting better and better every year. Thanks to all for their contributions, financially and otherwise. You guys and girls are simply the best. Tailwinds are the best.
There was suppose to be a surprise visit by the Police Pilatus, but unfortunately, at the last moment, it had other duties to attend to....thanks so much Mervyn for all your effort to try and arrange that as well as the Helicopter. Thanks to Hugo for making his Alouette available to transport Father Christmas.

Morning all, was unable to join in for the Benic's Brekkie this morning but I hope the conditions allowed the boys to fly in and enjoy the Witbank hospitality.
I'm signing off for the year now but will check in again when we return from our holiday.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope that the festive season will bring you all some much needed relaxation time with friends and family.
Fly safe and I will catch you all in the Big Beautiful Blue in 2016....
Blue Skies and Tailwinds to everyone.
Cheers from Bundy!

Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."Home of the Tailwinds"
Unfortunately Microland was totally misted in until 10. So no one from there could have joined in. What a disappointment.
I am in the Northern parts of the KNP until the new year with bad to zero internet access. So, I will bid you, your family and friends a joyous, merry festive season. May you be blessed and may all your dreams come true in 2016. Thanks so much for all the cameradery, and support this past year. It was a funtastic flying year.
God bless..
