All fellow pilots. As some of you may know I have created a WhatsApp group called “Who’s Flying”, the members of which fly in the Bapsfontein area.

The purpose of this group is to communicate your intention to go flying and thus invite others to join you. Current weather conditions in the Bapsfontein area, safety/emergencies or other situations could also be communicated via the group.

In order for this group to be successful there must be some rules (these are very similar to those governing radio communications):

1) All communication must be aviation related.
2) No one-on-one communication please. WhatsApp the guy directly.
3) Always ask yourself if you communication is in the interest of the group.
4) Do not send messages after 21H00 and before 04H00.
5) Do not to give your opinion about conditions. Just state them. Each pilot has their own margins.
6) Never be personal.
7) Try to be brief and to the point...no drivel/waffle pse.
With any communication, always, consider safety first.

So far the group has worked very well. Pilots who have not flown for some time have joined in again and there are now small groups flying in the morning (safety!).

Some Bapsfontein area pilots, cannot be included in the group because they do not have/want WhatsApp and others have left the group because of the lack of rules.

What a great braai and fly we had yesterday. Welcome to all the new pilots and faces. Thanks to those who brought charcoal & pap and gravy & garlic bread & of course the gees. The Tailwinds really have gees.

Loota, I did touch and goes at Petit yesterday morning, I was alone in circuit....again. When do you guys fly???? There must have been 10 or more trikes flying at Microland.

Loota, jou trike staan dan by Microland. Heel voor in die hangar met vier ander trikes agter hom. Gebruik jy n' hyskraan om hom uit te haal? Ek sien ook heelwat stof op die onderkant van jou vlerk. Ek het circuits by Petit gedoen terwyl ek gewag het vir daai ander...laat slaapende....ou manne waarvan jy praat. Moeg geraak, en toe net so n' entjie verder vir n' uur en half gevlieg. Julle loop seker Petit toe want net Hugo se kar was daar.

Sien ons jou by die volgende braai? of is jy nou te grand met jou Cheetah en soon to be....Sling?
