Numbi Flyers,

Spoke to the Aviation Weather Office at O.R. Tambo. The wx for tomorrow morning does not look unflyable, especially if you consider the conditions we had during the Barberton trip.

Wind is from the north, light to moderate breeze, no clouds, and stable. The front will hit us Friday afternoon and Numbi Saturday night / morning.

FABA @ 06:00 the surface wind is - 10 kts - 21 deg, so take off 03 as per usual.
FAMB @ 08:00 the surface wind is - 12 kts - due North, 1 deg, so land / take off 32 (tar) or 01(gravel)

Then climb to 9 500 and 11 500 ft -wind is 280 deg, 30 kts - strong semi tail wind.

After 12 the surface winds pick up drastically - 28 kts FABA, 24 kts FAMB.

Then at Numbi @ 10:00 - 13 kts on the ground northerly - land 01 (Grass).

PIC, you decide.

What wories me more is that, for Numbi, low cloud and rain is forcast for Saturday morning until Monday mid morning.

Paul, please fly safe. I am sorry I can’t be your wingman this weekend. Watch the wind over Graskop, we both had a taste of what they can do on our last trip to Barberton. (**) Have fun!

Ja Stefanus, considder yourself uitgek@k. You would have enjoyed it imensly, missed you. ## ## You have to make it next time.

Going over the escarpment on the way down I had 900 ft/min sink for a minute or so, followed by 1000 ft/min lift. At full power I could just, just, maintain altitude. Luckily, I was at actual (GPS) altitude 10 000 ft. (9500@ QNH1013). ## Fly the conditions not the prediction. (!!)

Paul, I went back to Microland in the afternoon and did some landing practice in high DA gusty cross-winds.
For the last half hour of light the air was dead calm and the sky was empty.
It's really amazing flying in the Highveld sunset, it's like your are inside it.

I got some paperwork done at RAASA on Thursday and I saw a CAA poster there - Hello Summer 14'
Check out the CAA website.
There are events at various aerodromes where you can meet SAR, Accident investigation, Simon Gear the weather forecaster and ATC
This is the first I heard about it and you needed to rsvp yesterday but it sounds very interesting.
I going to try to rsvp on Monday.

See you all in the sky

Thanks Stef and Mark/Fiona for all the flying and chatting. (^^) Cloudy, a bit windy but nice flying.

Going through my airframe log book...AMH's previous wing sail lasted for 592 hours (HOBS) and for a period of about 8 years. I think that is quite good?

Hallo Guys

I would like to invite all who braved the skies at 2013 Africa Microlighting Cup to go to our Facebook page "Reflection Photography Secunda/Trichardt"
I've uploaded a few images, but there are plenty photos of all pilots.
If you are interested in placing an order for your images on disc and inside a printed DVD cover for R200,then please inbox us on the facebook page.
We also do a wide variety of printing formats like canvas/artpaper/acrylic/framed prints.
Sizes A0 down to A4

Be sure to join us in Secunda for the local Airshow on 12 October 2013
Photos can be collected at the airshow or will be mailed.

Thanks for a great event and be sure to see me at future events.
