Tedderfield "Rocks" Now what? ?

Postby ZULU1 » Sat Feb 04, 2012 10:18 pm

Well what a great day, in short brilliant and it all flowed. ...

What was good was the cameraderie. Now as we all acknowledge the sport needs a path forward. With the drive from this event, it is imperative the momentum must be kept up.

A few suggestions from the fresh events..

Another similar event for the Cape should be instigated, even a drive in event or even a closed hangar.

The clubs need awareness days, these may be boosted with appearances by Airplane traders and other suppliers to increase the gate, guest appearances from the Springbok team and so on.. Local companies, hotels etc could be brought on board with littlle local cost to participants. Coupled to a fly in or simillar.

Then of course the Empangeni catering corps will pitch, forks and all...

Please lets keep this plot going.

Thanks for a great day!

Paul the presence of your products was more than evident at the event.

My thoughts.

Any club and airfield wanting to raise its profile and attract support should commit 3 months in advance and stage such an event.

Cut the grass, empty some hangars for display, kuier and camping and for the easiest form of catering, organise an evening potjie, simple breakfast, wors rolls in the day and braai packs for the evening and make some bucks.

Everone would be happy to pay a R50.00 entrance fee to cover toilets, table hire, securty e.t.c. as long as you don't call it landing fees.

Support a supplier who will give ice, take returns and stock up with all the cooldrinks, water, beers and spirits at reasonable prices and spend on good entertainment.

Get a local sponsor, raffle tickets and you'll cover your expense.

Market to your locals and get some farmers, young students e.t.c. to take introductory flips and your flying school will grow. Add a small cover charge to okes selling 2nd hand aircraft if a sale is successfull because if there's volumes then the agents i.e. gps, flying suits, Ipad and camera guys will want to display.

I sound like an African Grey. :)
