Wing and a chair

Postby Peg Leg » Fri Dec 30, 2011 9:26 am

I just read about David Sykes, a paraplegic pilot from the uk - flew a GT450 from Uk to Sydney in some 277hrs SOLO, over 4 months. He strapped his wheelchair in the back and did it all on his own, How cool is that. www.soloflightglobal.com and one video in particular at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KUigXlm ... r_embedded -

Are you sure it was a trike! Looks more like a rowing boat in that wind.

I wonder what Wilbur and Orville Wright would have said if you told them that this would be possible? Amazing what mankind has achieved in just 100 years of flight? Sound Barrier....space....the moon.... next stop....MARS! 8)

Well done David Sykes! An amazing achievement! (^^)

I wonder how he steered the nosewheel without the use of his legs?

Nevermind, I remember in the 80's when the boys flew from Microland to Durban in 6 days, where my hanger mate (I forget his name now), had to out-land in a paddock, overhaul his Kiyuna engine that night on the spot, and then continue the next day - major feat to have completed the trip.....now a paraplegic flies from :) Uk to OZ, solo.......things have come long way
