Public apology to Gert Coetzee and Rudix for post deletion

Postby DarkHelmet » Thu Dec 08, 2011 11:25 pm

Hi Gert en Rudix

As admin of Microlighters I would like to personally apologise to both of you for the deletion of comments you made on the site recently.

Your efforts and continued input on the forum is very valued. I trust you are happy with our recent actions and public statements? Please feel free to contribute to the "Moderators Rules" thread at viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17307 which I have made a global sticky.

In hindsight, I don't think that KFA knew of the moderator tools, and, for that I take full responsibility, his explanation for the deletion of the posts was acceptable to me, although I do not have the full details of your posts. He tried to keep the thread clean with issues relevant to the build of the project. He should have split the comments into separate topics to more relevant forums.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention, we are all learning from our mistakes.

Yours in flight.

DH

YES... let's move on DH (^^)

I empathise for all involved - frustration all around too. MYR should follow legal recourse as the liability is clearly on UL's side. I do caution MYR though that involving persons on a public forum could lead to personal liability on the part of forum members involved... slander comes to mind! An injury to one is not necessarily an injury to all in this case!

Hi DH!

Thanks but no harm done at all, I can see why it was done and I am not upset at all (^^) (^^) This is still the best forum on the web and I will always support it!!

Keep up the good work, we appreciate it (^^)

Rudi

I am solely responsible for the deletion of the comments of "gertcoetzee" and "Rudix" because I had asked to do so.
I have no regrets for having requested the removal of their messages.

The reason of the delation was that these 2 persons took away all means of pressure on the engine manufacturer who does not assume his responsibilities in a sordid affair. My explanations are there

After "EDIT": I thought the person who has deleted these posts had decided it was more important to allow a victim to defend himselft rather than to allow a person to continue his dishonest practices, but it is not the case.

Good bargain there : Now for sale

Hi Laurent,
I did not delete those post to further your cause, I did it because I firmly believed and still believe that private mails should remain private. If somebody has a problem with something that was requested to them via pm the I believe that the sender relies on the integrity of the receiver not to make those pm's public unless with the consent of the sender.

My second reason was that the factory forum is for building progress reports etc. I saw that the comments made by you and Gert were sending the forum in a direction which was not what that forum is about, I explained this to Gert in a pm to him. I was unfimiliar with the moderator controls otherwise I would have split the post myself and let the fight continue as it did. If I have to delete unrelated to topic post on the factory forum again, I will do so. The factory forum is there for the benefit of the owner as well as other builders to get ideas and inputs, not for personal fights etc etc. The hanger talk section would be more appropriate for this.

We all feel for your troubles with UL Power but it is unfair to expect people to make comments, wheather good or bad, about a subject or situation that they are not involved in or familiar with. I will be deleting any and all comments on the factory forum link that is unrelated to that topic in light of the fact that it was repeated in the sensorship tread.

DH, no apology needed from you, but accepted.

MYR and KFR, you still don't get it, do you?

Let's agree to disagree and leave it at that. I think this topic has gotten more attention than it deserves.
