Postby Dobbs » Mon Dec 05, 2011 8:28 pm

Anyone know someone who has a friend at Graaf-Reinet vhpy

I will be flying from Loeriesfontein to East London on the 2/3 Jan, and will be stopping there for fuel and something to eat, if available.

Appreciate any help / advice

Beautiful tarred runway and clubhouse a few km out of town. Frans van der Ahee use to have the microlight school there, not sure if this number for him is still valid but he is very helpfull and knows the area. 0 8 two - 7 ate 7 553six. School name is Eagles Wings and e-mail aheeaero@mweb.co.za. Land line 049 - 89two 60six7.

Further to me earlier request, please can I further pick your brains.

My route from Loeriesfontein to East London will include the following waypoints -

- Williston
- Fraserberg
- Aberdeen
- Somerset East
- Fort Beaufort

Please can you give me some idea as to the condition of the various strips which I hope to use for comfort breaks, decanting fuel etc

I landed at Aberdeen for a leg-stretch and decant early one Sunday morning and was offered coffee by some interested and concerned locals. There must be SOMETHING wrong to land at Aberdeen on a Sunday morning, no?

Runway is fine, People are friendly, 6-ply tyres a recommendation since the "Duwweltjies" are plenty - otherwise all is well.
