Flying... FLYING... FLYING!!!

Damn, real life (hereafter referred to as RL) has taken its toll on my online life.

I am moderator on 4 forum sites, of which microlighters.co.za is one. The other 3 are virtual communities where I have no interaction with the members other than on the forum. This forum is different.

Upfront I would like to thank Morpheus and CLU-less for their endless efforts to accomodate me in Cape Town. I find myself there every other week at present and especially book my trip down to fly over the weekend with the crew down there. Rephrase - I would like to thank CLU-less for letting me fly his baby and morpheus for his endless hospitality!!!

I only started flying recently (qualified March last year (2005)) but the spirit of flying on these forums is keeping me in the air!

The people I have met to date have been an inspiration to me, Barry, thanks for going the extra mile to put this site up - it has added tremendous value to my flying!

To all of you, new and old, thanks for the grown up and professional manner that you respond here - it is a pleasure to be a moderator on this site, I don't need to moderate ANYTHING, EVERYTHING is in good spirit and it is a pleasure serving a bunch of grown ups with a common goal!

RL is taking its toll and ZU-AXC has been standing for a month, yet I have logged flying time every weekend. I love logging in and seeing the new guys ask the questions I asked when I joined, I love trying to beat the old guys to the response...

This post is getting longwinded again, in true DarkHelmet style...

DH, you are an ossifer and a gentle-flying-person and your posting is so true. If it not for this forum there are many people whom I would never have met or interacted with. It keeps up our spirits when the wx is down (like the moment ), but I think we have all lost the actual point of this forum?? We know that it was started by Demon and we all thought it is was unselfish and well intended? Well I put it to you now, how many of you have found yourself at a pub having the odd tipple or 20 with Demon when if it were not for this forum you would have been at home miserable? You see, Demon has created this forum to ensure that where-ever he goes he has enough drinking buddies keep him company! Very devious

The nice thing also is, if you have any type of question, there are always somebody that can assist you with an answer, and thast's precious to me. Just emagine the hassle if this forum wasn't here!!

Sad thing is in the old days (not soo long ago) much of this interaction was taking place 1 on 1 in hanagrs and at flying clubs. That said RL has got in the way and the forum makes possible that which would not be. Very few genuine flying clubs remain and what the forum has done is link those that do and those that fly alone. Global (SA at least fly inn struff) community indeed. VIVA.

Always a pleasure DH my mate. As far as the forum goes, as another moderator, I too have not found any cause to edit out posts, I think I have had one instance in total, apart from editing out the odd email address of course.

I too enjoy this forum, the interaction, and the camaraderie. It's strange how you can get on with complete strangers and how this forum can lead to friendships. I talk in particular about DH, Demon, Ace, Chaz, Tailspin, Fairy etc who took the trouble of having drinks with me while up in Jhb. The least I can do is reciprocate.

So, whenever you find yourself in our neck of the woods, look us up. The regular CT boys are Morpheus, CLU-less, Griffen, Junkie, Ou-Man, Bachhus, Morne, GertCoetzee. I still have to meet the rest.

Yebo I must agree and thank Demon as well. We at Klerksdorp have about 12 active pilots but unfortunately no organised club. When we get together the 'hangar talk' and information flies :D fast and furious. But it does not happen often enough. So at least this way us guys in the sticks get to share mcrolighting stuff!!

When are the Joeys area ous gonna come visit? After all we are only just past Parys!
