Was in Umlanga this past long weekend, weather was good but strong wind blowing on Saturday & Sunday.

BUT Monday was perfect flying weather.... Very light breeze.... WHERE WERE ALL THE TRIKES ??? :?: :?: :?: Saw one gyro the whole day! Mabey the flying buys were away...? I thought that i would have seen dozens on trikes out there ? Couldnt ask for more fantastic
views flying along the beach. (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^)

Virgina airport is close but is that an issue down there? :? :? :?

I think you should spend your next long weekend in Port Edward, or here abouts.

You weren't far enough North ! The Ballito club is limited by a "Blue" route and a normal route to the coast. We have to call up King Shaka and then get a clearance down the coast to uMhlanga. Its no issue but a schlep when you can fly out of our box. Obviously we are all transponder equipped, so most head northwards, we are however working on a second route so we dont have to fly North to get to the Midlands. See www.balaero.co.za for our routings etc. slowly slowly we catch the monkey. We are very lucky to co exist and I may add that Dave Jackson has done a great job working with the tower. No problem !

Hi Zulu1,

Forgot that all those areas are in King Shaka airspace....... what a blue ball ache   It seems that north is better and less hassel.
Would still like to take a trip down there sometime and fly that piece of the coastline. vhpy
Is the flight school in Ballito still going. Did one of my first flips there in the PUMPING ( didnt know to much about flying then )wind... whoever took me up had big brass ones........ Thats another story though, was hooked from then on.. vhpy vhpy vhpy

.......and slowly slowly Groutville Airfield is becoming the new home of free flyers on the North Coast......... 6 minutes past Ballito on the N2 North.... NO TRANSPONDERS.... 2 minutes to get to to beach and a great bunch of true birdmen ......

So, if ya wanna get air in a trike, pop in to the Groutville and meet the boys... or go to Port Edward:) Howzeet Vernon:)

Cheers.
