AOPA Air Safety Foundation reports engine failures still account for nearly 22 percent of all general aviation accidents. Approximately half of these are related to non-mechanical problems such as fuel starvation and carburetor icing, and are therefore, easily preventable.
Important statistic from the Journal of American Medical Association: only 5.2 percent of forced landings resulted in a pilot fatality. That’s a low number. In 69 percent of the crashes, there were no injuries at all!
