Is there some obligations for rewarding a flight in a microlight as a prize for a fundraising event at church?

As long as the flight is conducted by an instructor under the auspices of a flight school and an introductory flight.

This one is a difficult one - if the pilot has not been rewarded in any respect for craft or piloting - one could argue it is not commercial and hence would not fall foul of commercial ops issues?

I will sponsor the whole flight...not getting paid a cent. The only problem is....I am not an instructor, but is it really necessary as it is almost like taking a friend for a flip?

But the difference is that a total stranger will win the raffle. Should something go pear shaped the investigation would reveal that the pax had entered a competion and "won " the prize.
Sounds pedantic and over the top but things can go wrong. Light Flight sponsored a flip for our Farm Watch Lucky draw but the winner was taken up by an instructor on one of the School's trikes.
By all means do the flip, just wanting to point out any potential problems.
Cheers,

When the Taxi industry became over regulated ....oh stuff it.
Befriend the winner and then take you 'new' mate for a flip.

I did exactly the same thing but paid Skyriders at Microland to do the flying. Way too many issues doing it yourself.

Hi,
I do about six flips a year for my wife's tennis club. No charge at all and I even provide the charcoal. These are the first prizes to be grabbed after tournaments.
More than 50% of the time when I fly I have someone in the backseat having a jol - what's the difference if I never charge?
Just make sure that you are 100% legal in terms of ATF, paperwork on board etc.
Regards
John N????

I do find Grumpy's public stance on the matter as quite intriguing!
Did you have Rooibos, Ceylon or Dagga Tea somewhere sir ?

The prize must then be a six pack to be collected at Microland.

- as easy as that ..........and then the six pack must be shared.
.............but not as payment.
