Decisions Decisions

Postby OzGyro » Mon Feb 28, 2011 9:28 pm

Hi All

Ok so I have been trying to save enough money to by my own 2 seat gyro and and almost there, but I have been watching the classifieds and there seems to be a great number of damn nice fixed wing machines available for damn good prices at the moment. Now I love my gyros and could never give them up but am becoming ever increasingly tempted to stray to the dark side and get either my PPL or RPL.

Scenario 1 - By and purchase a fixed wing, preferably a tail dragger and do my licence and look at selling it on before I head back at the end of the year.
Or maybe there is also someone else who might be interested in a partnership in a good fixed wing as well and dosnt have enough cash up front right now and could do with a short term partner to help them out.

Scenario 2 - If there is someone who's looking to get into the world gyros and dosnt have the cash for a machine of there own and can come up with R100,000 + - then maybe I have a deal for you. You could purchase a share in a gyro and do your training at a greatly reduced cost (R650.00 p/h), the only additional cost will be for insurance. I am willing to cover the costs of servicing, ATF etc. During the next 8-10 months I would payout your initial investment and purchase the gyro outright or if you prefer you can also purchase the remainder of the gyro from me. So in essence for a R100,000 investment you can get your gyro licence for probably 55-60% of the normal rate, not a bad R15,000+ - return, for a R100,000 short term investment. Only condition is if you are an abinitio pilot your training must be done at 303 Sqn at Brakpan.

So what do I do?? I have to admit both have there appeal, if anyone is interested then send me a PM and maybe we can work something out.

Cheers
Darren

Hi Darren
Option 1: why even go there? You are a gyro pilot! Don't sell your soul for a cheap compromise ##
Option 2: now that is a creative and seriously attractive offer to an aspiring gyro pilot! I hope you get takers

Hi Darren,

Option 3... Go buy yourself a Weightshift Microlight and have endless fun at a fraction of the cost of running either option 1 or 2!! ## (^^)

Oohh now Im gonna get it! ha ha Hope you find a solution mate!

By the way Glen, have you managed to replace Old No 7? You wont remember me but I met you once when you landed at Anton's farm in Cullinan last year. Was sad to hear you came short in her. Still one of the nicest Gyro's Ive ever seen.

Regards,

Hi Alan,
Yes. I've gone Magni M22.
Without getting ino the debate of which is better, M22 is a great tourer. Defenitely more solid in air and on terra firma and loads of packing space.
MT0S is much lighter (40kg) so I miss the extra payload on long trips. It's a lot nimbler but also bumpier on long flights

A bit like a BMW vs Merc. Both good cars, but different strokes for different blokes.

I miss the Jack liverage (was going to cost too much to respray) and heat (black) was not advised on the resins on the M22.

I still fly over Anton's old place quite often. We gotta convine him to take the Squirrel to Barbeton this year.

Cheers
Glen

Hi All

Glen you are so right, I appologise for my moment of madness. They do say all good things come to those who wait, and it looks I will be rewarded very soon.

Bundy yes, I could go down that road. But have something for you to consider.

I liken the feeling of trike flying to the feeling you get when you bid your ex wife farewell, you think to yourself this just cant get any better.
However I liken the feeling of gyro flying to that feeling you get after you just spent that first night at your NEW girlfriends place, it just dont get any better. vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy

Safe Flying to all.
