Who should get the Microflight Africa mag?

Postby alanmack » Mon Feb 21, 2011 9:27 am

FACTS
As you know membership of Misasa is now not a debatable matter. Owners of NTCA aircraft must by law belong to an appropriate organisation. If yours is a home build then the EAA is the appropriate organisation. For the "heavies" SAPFA and for LSA, conventional & weight-shift Microlights it's MISASA. We have all had an opinion on whether or not membership should be voluntary or not but that is now "spilt milk." You can also join another sub-section of the Aero Club if you wish to do so.

MISASA membership fees are due in 1 January. By the end of last year we sent out 1489 Xmas Edition magazines but for this next magazine I believe that those that have paid total about 300. We have in the past only sent magazines to advertisers, scribes and paid up members. This has meant that those that pay late and or who have not updated there addresses with the Aero Club ( see update form at http://www.misasa.co.za), those that the Post Office manage to mislay and those that get "nicked" out of your post box do not get the mag.

BACKGROUND
Complaints arise due to the above and from those that pay late who now say that they did not receive past issues. This means that distribution becomes much more than a quarterly "lick and stick" job. If anyone wants to be the official "lick and sticker" the job's been available for 10 years.

Using round numbers - The printing cost for 500 is half the cost of 1500. If we print 500 for the next mag we will run out when the late payers get around to paying their subs as only the next 200 will get one. Most of these entail an e-mail from the Aero Club and probably a complaint that must be answered - all of which boosts the distribution admin.

QUESTIONS: You have two votes - one for each question
Question 1 > Who should get the DVD? Please vote once on this question.
A. DVD to 2011 Paid up members at the time of issue but not late payers?
B. DVD to 2011 Paid up members plus late payers after they pay?
C. DVD to 2010 & 2011 paid up members? This means > That you can ignore the MISASA account until you need an ATF. > MISASA must fund the shortfall until you decide to pay! > The members must maintain a cash fund to cover it. Distribution hassles are solved as it saves 100's of trips to the Post Office.
D. DVD to Magazine contributors over the last 4 years?
E. Reserve it for promotions eg show stands, club events and or roadshows eg RAASA roadshow to regions.

Note: It cannot be purchased as it contains commercial footage that is available from the contributors at a price. So, it can be reserved for scribes that send in a story or it can be sent to all.

Question 2 > Who should get the magazine? Please also vote a second time on this question.
6. Mag to 2011 Paid up members at the time of issue but not late payers?
7. Mag to 2011 Paid up members plus late payers after they pay?
8. Mag to 2010 & 2011 paid up members? This means > that you can ignore the MISASA account until you need an ATF. > MISASA must fund the shortfall until you decide to pay! > The members must maintain a cash fund to cover it. > Distribution hassles are solved as it saves 100's of trips to the Post Office.
9. Mag to Magazine contributors over the last 4 years?

Note: Options 2 and 6. CON > means that current members carry the cost of sending the mag/DVD to 2010 members that cease to fly and thus do not renew in 2011. PRO > It is a huge relief to the distribution admin as it does not require having to constantly lick and stick / go to the Post Office every couple of days after pilots pay when their ATF is due.

OTHER OPTIONS
Please response with other suggestions if you believe that they are not covered above.

This might motivate members to pay membership-a book & DVD with renewal bargain! (^^)
