Aircraft Maintenance One-Stop-Shop

Fellow Aviators,
There are a number of Maintenance Organizations around the country, based at various airports. The majority of the LSA and small aircraft movement is around the Gauteng and neighbouring towns. There is a definite need for a one-stop-maintenance-shop for pilots and their planes!!!
If there is a facility where you could fly in, get your repairs done, have a cup of coffee, buy your smalls and receive a reasonable bill - WOULD YOU USE IT? The concept of a "FLY-IN" with "TAKE-AWAYS" of any sort relating to your aircraft. Engineers on-site to assist!
Post your comments, we are interested!

I'd be interested but that sounds like a hell of a lot of ratings needed to service such a wide variety of LSA? Looking forward to the details.

I would be more for a mobile workshop fitted with a coffee machine to come to my airfield and do the repairs in my own hanger. If you think of this: most of the LSA's in need of repair is grounded and impossible to get to the AMO who serves coffe and assistance no matter how reasonable the bill might be.

Choosing your AP is like selecting your gynaecologist.
When they 'delve in the binne goeters', it's comforting to know they're rated, regularly fly the type and take it for a flippie for fun, checking coms, wing settings e.t.c.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your quick responses.
Hi Bundy,
Yes the market is full of small aircraft, however, there are some passionate engineers out there that are 'displaced' and underutilized. Our facility will have a range of AME's, and AP's, already giving it an edge when it comes to troubleshooting, quick fixes etc. We also have an Aeronautical Engineer on-site making modifications etc do-able. We are definitely going to strive to make a difference in the Maintenance Market!
Hi Rudix,
Keep a look out here, I will post details of the facility within the next couple of days. Glad you are on-board!!
Hi ZS-NEL,
You are 100% right, and this is definitely something we will be offerering - FIELD MAINTENANCE!.. It's long overdue and will definetely add value to the market.
Hi Tumbleweed,
Yes, those "binnegoeters" you don't want fiddled with just by anyone. AP's do become very familiar with their products, and it is often pilots that fly them, that also become AP's. However, at the risk of trying to imply that AME's are better qualified (that is what we have in our facility), they do get exposure to a variety of problems that occur on aircraft and that is a definite plus when it comes to trouble shooting.
