Toying with the idea so starting an academic execsize to plan a flight down to Port Edward.

Using VFR Planner, first option but travelling though busier airspace.

FROM/TO ALT TR(T) W/V HDG(T) VAR HDG(M) GS DSTTIME (MIN)
Secunda Estcourt Ultra Shell ? 167 001 / 1 167 21W 188 99 170 103.0
Estcourt Ultra Shell Emoyeni ? 141 001 / 1 141 24W 164 99 74 44.5
Emoyeni Port Edward Micro ? 196 001 / 1 196 25W 221 99 87 53.0
Totals Fuel burn: 60.2 ltr 331miles 200.5 minutes = 3.5 hours excluding stops, cruising with a GT 450 @85 m/ph

Second choice avoiding Maritzburg and Durban Airspace but flying over jungle country- Valley of a Thousand Hills.

FROM/TO ALT TR(T) W/V HDG(T) VAR HDG(M) GS DSTTIME (MIN)
Secunda Estcourt Ultra Shell ? 167 001 / 1 167 21W 188 99 170 103.0
Estcourt Ultra Shell Richmond ? 156 001 / 1 156 24W 179 99 71 43.0
Richmond Oribi ? 180 001 / 1 180 25W 205 99 57 34.5
Oribi Margate ? 153 001 / 1 153 26W 179 99 12 7.5
Margate Port Edward Micro ? 235 001 / 1 236 26W 262 98 14 8.5
Totals Fuel burn:59.0 ltr 325 miles 197.0 minutes = 3.5 hours excluding stops @85 m/ph

Thr true distance and time is sterile as I will venture around unnecessary tops and choose more scenic detours. Seems I wont have to carry fuel as Ultra City at Escort will suffuce but will take 20 lt in case.

To the local okes i.e. Light Flight, what is the preferred trip, keeping in mind alternatives and could you kindly the various radio frequencies en route?

Thanks,

Flying down to the Coast

Nearer the time, give me a shout.

By the way.
My suggestion would be Light Flight (to save your balls) then on to the coast at Scotsborough or Ifafa then down the coast to us. Very scenic. coastwise. 124.8. At Shepstone, 122.7 for Margate. Sanlemere back to 124.8 to us

Thanks Vernon. The GT and Savana 912 are perfect cruise buddies. :)

Just take off at Secunda, zoom out on the 296 until you see the blue stuff and head in that direction (**) (**) (**)
