Home Builder Training Course

The Airplane Factory, creator of the Sling, will be conducting a home aircraft builder training course from 09h00 to 16h00 on Saturday 30 October 2010. The course will be run by Mike Blyth, Jean d'Assonville and The Airplane Factory Team. It will cover all issues required to prepare oneself to construct a kit Airplane Factory Sling, from scratch to first flight. This will include space and tool requirements, required background knowledge and expertise, the build process and organization for maximum efficiency, aluminium as an aircraft structural material and the theory and practice of semi-monocoque aluminium aircraft construction, use of appropriate hardware, composites and their use, using and getting the most from the construction manual, use of jigs and other devices aimed at ensuring build precision, quality control, necessary steps to ensure a safe aircraft, inspections and testing, final assembly, instruments, wiring, painting, final inspections and paperwork and preparing for the first flight.

The course will take place at The Airplane Factory premises at Hangar 7 Tedderfield Air Park, Tedderfield Agricultural Holdings, Johannesburg South. There is no cost, save for a R150 contribution to lunch and refreshments.
