We are approaching a time when the nearest Microlight Training organisation could be around 300 kms away. As a club we recognise that this is far from ideal and to ensure club growth, we may require to get involved in setting up an ATO in our neck of the world to look after our local training needs.
We have members willing to even set up the ATO from a financial perspective - but we lack instructors in our area.
Are there any instructors out there that may consider relocating to the friendly city area?

what happened to Guy Blaine??
Re: Micro instructor required
He has 'retired' from the early morning stuff. He still does some aviation work - but is getting more involved in green businesses at the moment.
Africa will be a good reference as to what the situation is like here. We imported him for a while - fed, clothed, and even provided him with a girlfriend
Damn those were the days - single and happy.

Although an old thread - looks like someone may be doing something:
Posted on AvCom ( http://www.avcom.co.za/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 0#p1356154 ):
We are looking for a microlight/trike instructor in Port Elizabeth/Uitenhage. We will subsidize sustainability by helping with conversion on to gyrocopters and/or helicopters if required.

Re: Micro instructor required
Something does not add up. Who is doing the renewals down there at the moment then. John Huddelstone zpparently got a school registered. The word is that an instructor from up country now there. Or have we got our facts wrong.
Re: Micro instructor required
Somebody out there ? We can help you at Wings Park but talk to us.
Re: Micro instructor required
I spoke to somebody in Port Elizabeth and apparently there IS an instructor and a Flight School down there. I suggest you contact them through John Huddelstone. Would be nice if someone rrom there gives us somd feedback since one would like to assist trike pilots down there.

Re: Micro instructor required
Nope, the instructor that was to work for John, ended up with some issue that prevented him from continuing. So we have a registered school but no instructors. So if you are instructor rated let us know or contact John Huddlestone directly. It is a long way to East London or elsewhere to get our renewals or ab initio done.
Come to PE - it is after all the City of Heaven - coz the wind has blown the hell out of it

Re: Micro instructor required
Renewals one can still make a plan but for ab adnitio it is a pain in the arse. VERY difficult for someone to train far from home. That is 300 km or more. We HAVE to get some kind of dispensation or trike flying is dead in its tracks.
