S&R Presentation - MORNINGSTAR 23 September 2010

Postby John Boucher » Fri Aug 20, 2010 9:43 am

Hi there guys & gals... This is an important date : 23 September 2010 (18h30 for 19h00) :!:

AAD 2010 will be held between 21 - 25 September 2010 (http://www.aadexpo.co.za/)

Seeing that AAD is predominantly focussed on Commercial & Military systems.... I thought it to be an excellent platform for us "normal" & "weekend-warriors" to get in touch with certain seemingly forgotten aspects of general aviation.

Many know that I "stir" iro of aviation safety and the prevention of accidents - but what happens when an accident does occur? So, I approached Santjie White (Liewe Heksie) to do a presentation iro of Search & Rescue (ATNS / ARCC)& possibly incorporate a presentation with a CAA Accident Investigator.... Now Santjie is our guardian angel in respect of aviation and with her team so many things go unnoticed. She has kindly agreed to do an informal presentation with Chris Williams (CAA - if available) at Morningstar Airfield (Cape Town) on the 23rd September 2010.

The presentation is open to all aviators - blik, rag & tube, whirlies, vlamgatte etc.

The chaps at Morningstar have been kind enough to provide us with the facilities - (^^) Braai Packs and a CASH bar will be available ...

Please indicate if you wish to attend so that the caterers can arrange for an ample supply of everything!

I'll be there for sure!
Lets show our support to the Search and Rescue people that do so much for us when we may be in distress.
Of course I am sure we'll all learn something too!

Len.... I am quite amazed to see the "positive" response of this offering! I suppose the chaps have the topic taped? :(

The Morning Star commitee is moving the monthly meeting earlier to that evening so she will have the whole Morning Star club crowd there as well

Lots of interest already from those I have spoken to so book your seat early! I am sure there will be a great turnout - most microlighters are a pretty illiterate bunch and their computer/web skills even worse! The committee will be spreading the word.

CFD... I am sincerely pleased to hear that even though the response on the forum has been disappointing that the chaps are keen to attend!

Greg, maybe a bit premature but please convey my appreciation to the committee for the venue, change in programme etc.

I will definitely be there, as I am sure a whole bunch of other paramotor pilots too.
Will get together a list of names/numbers for catering purposes.

Any idea of what time it will take place?
Sunset that day will be 18h41 local, so it would be great if we can do a late evening/sunset flight just before the meeting...
Just an idea.

Whoops, stupid me... Don't know how I failed to notice that, especially after telling so many people to RTFS (Read The F%@#* Screen).

OK, starting time is perfect. Now let's hope for perfect weather.
