Sound (ATC) in video

Postby Chris » Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:21 am

Good day all

I have a Oregon Scientific 5K Waterproof Action Cam on which I record all my flights in video format. I would love to put my radio sound(atc) in the movie as well, how do I do it? Flying a microlight with a ICOM A6

Any advise please?

Chris

Work around is to take a dictaphone or old walkman with record and plug this into the headfone jack or intercom. Press record on both and then when you get home "add" the sound track to the video file. Not ideal, but will work.... puff

I used top use an ATC cam as well...I did as RV4ker said and used a digital dictafone with the small lapel mic tucked into the headset cup....recorded nicely,

The only prob I had was there was a slight out of sync with the 2 recordings....with the sound lagging behind the video no matter how carefully I spliced them.....but in reality it did not matter that much...well for me anyway.

What intercom system do you have? If it is a Buzzcom/AirMagic/Lynx you can route audio through that and into the mic socket on the camera.
If the camera doesn't have a audio input (mic) then I suggest that you record it to a dictaphone/walkman like RV4ker said.
I sugggest you contact Paul (Zulu1) for more info as he is in the know about all this stuff

Synchronising using windows movie maker is dead simple...
