Postby Blue Max » Sat Aug 07, 2010 8:31 pm

:? :? :?
I would like to know how a Thunderbird with a 582 engine compares with same with a 912 engine..
For instance:
Takeoff roll... with pax and without pax....
Engine refs....Groundspeed....Fuel consumption...glyding Ratio...cruising speed...general performence with pax...Maximum all up weight..
Please dont be shy and sommer anything else you know that might help me..

My humble opinion - Flown in one once - I weigh 125kg - Was ringing the 582's neck to stay airborne 2-up - 6000rpm+ al the way  - For me it will need to be 912

I cant comment on the 912 version, but the 582 cruises straight and level at 5800rpm with one up, and about 6200rpm with two on board.... typically at about 65-75mph.

Best climb out speed is about 60mph, as is the final approach speed.
