Just a crazy idea!

Please take this from whom it comes!

I have been thinking lately, why don't we as "microlighters.co.za" make our own magazine! Just think about it, we have some great aviators under us who have many stories to share which so many can learn from, we have several great photographers, we have guys who are able to work with photoshop rather well, we have several successful business men, lawyers, accountants you name it! We have a wealth of knowledge and experience under us and I think we will be able to successfully run our own magazine! I think however we should focus this magazine on Trikes, Gyro's and Three axis LSA and NTCA!

Tell me what you guys think? I am definitely in and I will with pleasure do some of the photography and do the designing! I also have several stories to share and so does my father!

This is not to make money but rather to share our wonderful stories!

Although it might not seem like it, I am actually serious about this! I am aware that it is not easy to-do something like this but I am up for it and ready to-do whatever it takes!

SS its not a pathetic idea - It is a very good idea. The comments are not directed at you but rather at the history of what has gone before.The humour is that it has been done before (African Skies) and it was a great mag but the execution did not last.

While the mag was here it was great. Unfortunately a lot of people subscibed to an annual subscription but due to whatever reasons, the frequency of the issue dropped and then stopped. Many were understandably pissed off.
But the fact that it failed did not make it a poor mag. One has to just deliver what is promised as in any business.

Thank you for that! That is unfortunately a big problem with something like this, it requires a lot of work to get and keep going but I am sure in the end it will be very rewarding!

GO FOR IT.

There is a gap in market, but it takes dedication. Maybe a thought. Go digital to start with (even a highlights of microlighters has been mooted for those oukes too lasy or unable to brows the forum). The printing issues and timing thereof was a major problem from Trix when she did Af Skies....

Why don't you tie up with the Misasa mag? Have them expand to a rag for the general public and discount for members.Too many avid/ frequent and wannabe flyers not in the system.

I doubt it's very profitable but lots of oppertunity to expand via destinations and other adventure interests. Other tourism mags will also run stories i.e. inflight and tourism mags

Good idea I will support it. I think that the cost of printing got the better of old tannie Trix
Printing does not come cheap and depending on what we want, I might be able to help out here and there,

I am thinking of something in the line of "Sport Aviator" or "African Sport Aviator"??? I need your suggestions??

Then I need a IT Professional who can help with a website, I am willing to pay!

George is writing a Article about Importing Aircraft from the states, I am thinking of reviewing either a Cheetah, Tecnam or Savannah for the first issue! The first issue will be in PDF form and will be available on the website for free, once the word has gotten around I will start printing (and don't worry there will always be a PDF version available)!

Will talk to my father about the whole registering a company etc, maybe a CC would be best!

I need your input guys!

If you don't mind me correcting you, this is not at all about the money as there simply is nothing behind it! It is all about the passion for aviation and sharing it! Nothing else!

I am not going to make this over complicated as that is when things go pear shaped and things fall apart!

I will see where I end up, for now I am going ahead full steam! give me 4 to 6 weeks and the first issue will be out!
