Howzit Guys
With the World cup going on we have a contingent of SAPS at our field, Komatipoort. I think they are there to check flight clearances and so on but they are quite bored so they rub their hands with glee every time a non local plane lands here.
They go through every piece of paperwork with a fine toothed comb looking for mistakes and omissions.
Of the four non local aircraft inspected today, three had paperwork problems.
One expired ATF, one uncertified ATF copy and one not carrying his ATF.
This caused lengthly delays for the pilots concerned, fortunately all the issues were eventually resolved but this involved many faxes, phone calls and a lot of assistance from CAA, on a Saturday nogal!
There are probably SAPS personnel at most airfields anywhere near or within the no fly zones, be sure you have all the required paperwork on board, you will undoubtedly get a ramp check.
