Hi

What is the correct way of fixing your prop to the flange. Just the bolts; bolts with nylcoks at the back of the flange, or just the bolts with holes through them and saftery wire together?

Thanks
Karl

I would go the safety wire route. Easier to see when there is a problem. Not necessary for both.

Any idea where to take the bolts to have them drilled? Allso need to drill two holes in a R1000 plus hang point to fix to the pylon. Dont want to take a chance with a hand drill...

Does the flange have drivelugs installed or are there just holes without tread?

I've been taught to check the washers under the bolt-heads and the (nylock) nuts during every pre-flight. A loose washer is an early sign for a slowly unwinding nut or bolt stretching.

Cheers,

What prop? If it is wooden you will need a crush plate as well

I am assuming the flange is threaded? If so then you don't need nuts at the back as well but you have to safety wire the bolts. Any engineering place can drill the holes for you. Get yourself a can of cold galvanising spray to protect the bolts from rusting where you have drilled them. I have some, of you can't find any.

Used to seal a break in the galvanising, You can get it any any bolt shop, like Topfast etc

I used it to seal the ends of bolts I had to shorted and drill
