Well I guess that shows us Nicow's attitude!

If I wanted to use the Chat frequency (Poor name, because it encourages exactly that.) so that I could have a conversation with my buddies, I hope that I would have the manners to suggest to my chat buddy that we change to another frequency where we can yack away to our heart's content. I have been on a few flights out of Springs with a formation of trike pilots, where they decide before take-off on a frequency that they will use for companionable communications, while one continues to monitor the main frequency for the area and to pass on any pertinent info to the rest. Way to go!

123.45 is still a registered frquency aimed simply at cutting out some of the clutter of a more personal nature by pilots who need to exchange flight info or plans that are not of concern to the users of the main frequency in the area. At6 the end of the day, it all comes down to airmanship and manners.

Glad we live in a quieter part of the country - chat channel hardly ever gets cluttered.

Is it perhaps time a second formalised chat channel be considered? What is the practice in other busy parts of the world?
