SIGNAL STRIPS
I have been buying signal strips from one or two of the aviation suppliers in SA to make them available to customers taking delivery of new aircraft. Together with the BCF fire extinguishers, medical kit etc. When I last bought a batch they cost R175.00 and I sold them on at R200.00 odd. Barely covering the cost of freight. Simply a service realy. Even at R200.00 I thought they were over priced. Well, having run out of stock, I phoned around for prices. Surprise surprise. Now priced at R325.00 and R545.00 from two of the well known suppliers. All these strips consist of are three space blankets and an insert with instructions as to how to use them. Well I thought….. bugger this, so I got on the internet and bought bulk space blankets of the correct dimensions, copied a package insert and can now offer them to customers at R99.00. I am getting sick and tired of these rip offs. By the way, my mark up on these selling them for R99.00 is 200%. I think, building and selling aircraft, I am trading at the wrong end of the business.
Re: SIGNAL STRIPS
Hi John
I agree whole heartedly about the rip offs. Try pricing a tube for a trike at present and see a huge price differential. At R200.00 for a tube locally I agree we are RIPPED.
Congratulations on your initiative and slowly I think it will be realized some suppliers are culling the golden geese.
