FAWK TOWER needs our help

Postby The Agent » Mon Mar 15, 2010 8:43 pm

I recieved a fax from Emmie Oelofse this evening and so decided to post this on AvCom lets se how we can also help to make the differance.

Everyone,
Please see attached, the letter from Waterkloof Tower re a contribution to them to upgrade their facilities for the 2010 World Cup.
I have tried several methods and realised that the best way to do it is by everyone depositing his donation into the Waterkloof account.
I suggest we all add (FLY) to the reference, I will then notify Waterkloof to trace the (FLY) donations to see our contribution.
Please forward the mail to as many at Fly Inn as you are aware of, which I might have missed out on.
Waynne, Anton, Adriaan, Lionel etc.
Your assistance will be much appreciated.
Regards,
Emmie Oelofse.

Mods lets make this a sticky and lets here some suggestions of how we can help.
I am sure every small donation will help so maybe from all the clubs lets get some funds together and pay over

Uncle Agent,
I have another idea.
Many of us weekend warriors never get the opportunity to land at these masssive air-strips.
Given that FAWK recently underwent a face-lift, I was toying with the idea of asking them to invite all GA to a Saturday or Sunday fly-in.

Why don't the ATC's there arrange something like that and all pilots pay a landing fee and buy a boeri-roll, the proceeds then go towards their re-furb. It's a win-win.

I agree with a fly-in. It would be great to land at Waterkloof. For R100, landing at Waterkloof and a boerie roll would be great. I know of at least 5 or so just from our club. Sure more than 100 plane will pitch if you arrange a fly-in

How about Swatkops airforce base? Anybody has any contacts there. Maybe fly-in, get some coffe and just the experience of landing at the "big toy playground"

I am in. Who will araange it? vhpy

Hey Piet, imagine this!!!

"Waterkloof Tower, this is MICROLIGHT ZU XYZ, Good morning!"
"XYZ, Waterkloof Tower Good Morning"
"Waterkloof Tower, MICROLIGHT XYZ, one of 5 Microlights in formation, 2 nm's West of Shell Ultra City, Inbound to yours, Request your joining and landing procedures?"

How cool will that be!

Yip I agree, a fly-in would be sweet. Those that are to far can obviously still make a deposit.

Old Nr 7's idea sounds like the perfect solution to boost their bank balance. (^^)

I live virtually next door to the runway and it would be great to land there.
Taxing to the apron would possibly use more fuel than the flight from Microland!

Please try and arrange this and keep us posted.

Could have sworn I posted something here earlier........

I think the fact that the SAAF now has to beg for money to maintain their buildings is a bloody disgrace!  :(

Agent

I think you have to contact Emmie and get the ball rolling. No Fly_in, no deposit (**)

This would be the coolest flip ever. Please speak to the powers that be so we can go fly

How can this ever beat our muddy trip we had????

Anyway, I am amazed at the repsonses to this subject on Avcom. Man most of those okes got nothing better to do than complain about everything! Out of 2 pages of responses there is probably 4 positive repsonses (of which I think two are microlighters).

Here we see oppurtunity and everybody wants to join in the fun!!!!

So let me be the one to be synical. :?

Talking about regiment funds, they only need to go to the Infantry Battalions i.e. 5 SAI Ladysmith e.g. and ask for a loan from those funds, collected compulsary from the troepies for over 20 years. R2 pm for tv, R5 pm for haircut.

Imagine 1500 okes watching one crappy TV that had to be welded in place to prevent being stolen.

Thats R7 pm from over 1000 guys whilst they're on the border.

Seriously, if it's to make the ATC's comfortable, are they talking about a TV, fridge, kettle?

If it's about officers and RSM's indulging themselves on someone's donation >;((( s019
