Hak,

I built an embassy building in Antananarivo (Tana) a couple of years ago, and no, I never saw any. In the coastal town and airport of Tamataf I also did not see any. The country side is extremely rugged and almost comparable to a Valley of 1000 hills x 1000 ! The interior is not a place where you want to loose an engine. Yet, small twins like the ATR's and Fokkers are travelled there like Toyota Quantums are in Jhb.

Maybe in the more (and moerse expensive) tourist frequented Nossi Be you might find a microlight operator.

BTW, are you going for work or holiday ?

That country grew under my skin I must say ! vhpy vhpy

Hi
I flew there some od 2 years ago, operating out of Tana.Met up with n frenchman, flew in his highwing tube +fabrick ratex powered french light aircraft. Aparently his mates also with micro/lsa aircraft bum around there on the eastern side of Madagascar. There is also a savanna/zenair arie in Tana.Browsed around the hangars, couple of Maules etc.

Would love to do a tour around the island with my foxie and fellow pilots. To ferry a/c over by ship is dodgy, lot of piracy going on in the seas.Leg over the ocean....eish, but possible.

Jean D'Assenville ferried a Jabi there last year. I think it was close to 4 hours over water.

But then you do have the little Europa Isle for an emergency. It's literally a runway and a palm tree. Will see if I can google a pic of the Isle. :)
