No, it is not time for another Barry meddly.... :)

For the past 3 days there has been interference on 124.8 in the Western Cape.

Yesterday I took up a passenger, Jan, who is a radio ham, and he determined the following:

Hier is die info soos ek dit na die beste van my vermoe kon bepaal.

Ek glo dit is 'n AM (airband) syn op 125.

Ek het twee bearings op dit

Nommer 1:

33.53.33S , 18.33.56E is dit 40 grade +_5

Nommer 2:

33.54.09S , 18.51.01E is dit 15 grade +_ 5

Dit gee my as ek vinnig loer iets in die omgewing van

33.34.11S , 18.54.33E

Aangelas is 'n kaart waar ek glo dit mag dalk wees.

So ja, hierdie is my 2c, ek mag verkeerd wees, maar ek glo darem dit is al
'n stap nader aan die plek.

Hoop dit help

Groete

Jan van der Vyver

33.34.11S , 18.54.33E is almost spot on for Diemerskraal

Maybe Jaco or V can help to find the source and hopefully get it cancelled

Me and V was busy (yesterday) the whole afternoon - installing his air magic coms and V rabbit - finished at 18 - while we tested there was no interference - but i will ask Daan and Ernst to check the other planes hangered there.

Based Diemers - can the interference come from a mobile handset ?

Why im asking - got the interference after I took off at Diemers - was cristal clear on the ground while i was listening out for traffic and taxing.

About from 700-1000vt above diemers i started getting it and then up to Buffelsfontein and back.
I use a portable set.

Same here: transmissions were clear on the ground and once in the circuit the annoying interference started. We would need to triangulate from the air, I guess - how could we do that?

Gert, could you please ask your friend to give us some more hints what to look for? Big radio sets, large antennae, etc.? There must be a power source as well - I can't imagine a battery operated system to last with the power output needed for an interference over such a large area and time span.

On Google Earth the coordinates point at a small dam on the farm. Am not sure what's there.

Cheers,

V.

Daan from Diemerskraal called me and ask me to report back on the forum.

He had check all the aircraft in the hangers (the following day) and all the planes radio's was off.

The noice was not generated at Diemers and there is no base station.

Also very happy noise disappeared
