Diemerskraal!!!
Let's have a thread for the forming Diemerskraal gang
We had perfect pre-frontal conditions on Tuesday the 23rd with a nice inversion layer forming. Got up 3:30 in the morning, took the long drive to Diemerskraal. Met up with my buddy Koevoet 5:30 and were in the air by 6:00. The plan was to route Diemerskraal-Porterville-Misverstand-Boland Lugspruit-Diemerskraal.
A fantastic ride in about 10-12kts headwind from Diemerskraal to Porterville, but totally smooth air. Activity on the runway prevented us from landing, so dashed across to Misverstand where we eventually found the runway and Barry and his buddy joined us for a chat. After take-off routed to the dam wall then turned South riding the tailwind to Boland Lugspruit to say hi to the folks there. Then a short, somewhat bumpy ride over Malmesbury to Diemerskraal in the developing thermals. Back on the ground around 10:00 and at work in Cape Town (with an unstoppable grin) by 12:00. All in a good days work.

Next time you are going towards Misverstand, keep on going and come drink a Coke in Aurora.

Ja jong,
while you guys had your fun in the sun on tuesday, this is what our trippie was all about.
A bit of mist. A bit more mist. We were forced to do the inland thing. Next time, come and have a drink at morningstar.

Re: Diemerskraal!!!
Very simple: for years I've been trying to convince the weather to be good for flying when I had the time. Now I rather try to make time when the weather is good. Works much better ...

Re: Diemerskraal!!!
Another beautiful morning flying on Saturday on the 28th, before the airspace lock-down. Routed about the same as on Tuesday: A very smooth leg to Diemerskraal-Porterville (landed in Porterville this time), then from Porterville-Misverstand, but called in at a farm with a huge runway (two long crossing runways) about 10 minutes out of Porterville so say hi to the folks there, but found nobody. It was getting late in the morning, so skipped the Misverstand landing, just checked out the dam, the waterskiers and set direct course to Diemerskraal. A few bumps, but nothing major - clocked over 60kts groundspeed going past Kasteelberg. Can't believe that late November is treating us with such a nice weather!

V.
