MINIKOPTER MKII

Postby Bugwar » Mon Oct 19, 2009 8:51 am

I bought these plans on mail order many many moons ago in the early nineties.
Decided on receipt that it won`t work. (**)

Anyone seen these before or know the origin?

Where do the keep the fuel? How do they control the throttle linkages with the blade spinning above them?

They had a plan for the throttle.

Not only where do you keep the fuel but also how do you get it to the engine with the spinning blades generating a couple of G`s

Hi All

I am surprised that more of these have not been built. If you look at my avtar you will see the 1940's prototype.

The inboard portions of the rotors are hollow and form the fuel tanks. Centrifugal force ensured that fuel pressure was maintained without fuel pumps or any of that complex machinery and fuel flow (throttle) was governed by magnetic linkages in the rotor and hub bar. Fairly simple but quite elegant. In fact I think that the idea lost some support after one of the rotor mounted magnets came off in flight and the resulting vibration and asymmetrical rotor thrust caused the rest of the aircraft, including the pilot, to disappear up the exhaust of the functioning engine.

Yes, I know that I am bored and I could not resist. The aircrat may make a servicable gyro glider though.

Secunda adress, same wiseguy who made the "Leopard" gyrocopter. I asked him about this, and commented that it will NEVER fly, to wich his answer was: "Maar ek kry darem bleddie baie R50 Rande!! Geen gewete. Do not waste your money, time and energy. Or if you already ordered a "plan set", you have been shafted.

In his defense, I bought my very first gyro from him over 10 yrs ago, and he did me such a favour.

It was a VPM (Magni) M16 gyro, that he obtained from a deceased estate (no the guy didn't die in the gyro!). The machine had less than 50 hours on it, and I got it for R55 000. I had it slightly upgraded, painted, and flew around 120 hours on it, before selling it for R155 000 a year later. That helped me up my game to be able to afford a brand new gyro a couple of years ago. vhpy vhpy vhpy
