3 Axis Tie Downs??

Postby Dish » Wed Oct 14, 2009 11:57 am

Hello Lads,

I have a question relating to tying down ones aircraft at fly inns or fly aways. Simply put, where are the "fasten points" on the Bantam or similar (thunderbird etc)... - Most trikes (correct me if im wrong have a zip in the wing from which they fasten either tent pegs or the well renowned 'claw" - ?
The three axis planes do not - ?? so where do i attached tie downs without fear of damaging the aircraft in case of a big wind??

any ideas - and OH Thatchman and Gaylord, ANDY G or any other half wit jokers - i dont wanna hear any stupid BS suggestions from you or i will open a can of whoop ass on you both!!!! ## ## ## ## ## ## ##

If you want some V shaped anchor pegs I can give you some free of charge with the rope as well. (^^)

Hi Dish (^^)

On the plane side I tie the ropes to the points where the struts connect to the wing.

Fly safe,
Rudi

You dont really need to tie them down, they're very difficult to get airborne anyway vhpy

Ditto. Maybe also tie the nose and tail down if wing is big?

Hey Dish, the offer of the anchor pegs and ropes stands. I can send them to Jnb and you can collect them from my agent there if you want.

Jealousy makes you all nasty !!!   - thanks for the input (to some of you) - Andy G - thanks mate, but im probably going to buy 'the claw' - theyre expensive but work extremely well and can be hammered into some pretty hard ground. Perhaps i will just phone andrew pappas (the agent) and ask his worldly opinion. It can be that difficult but when i watch the trike lads tie there trikes down, boy, those trikes are going NOWHERE..

except of course if were in it ha ha (**) (**) (**)

The reason that Dish has to tie it down is because its so ugly that it gets repelled by mother earth when it stands still vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy

Gewone sand pegs work very well as well if you use 2 per tie down point. (1 front 1 back) away from fuse. Dirt cheap at Camp shop.
