Bank Account fraud - Cell phone notifications.

Postby MILO » Thu Jul 23, 2009 9:36 am

I am having a lot of unusual activity on my cellphone, double debits on the bank accounts etc. Its a mission to sort out but easier to pick up with this SMS notifications facility. Then it occured to me I show my cell number on all my E mails, any docs I fill out, in fact the whole world knows my cell number & thats the one I use to get the notifications & codes when I want to do account maint, change limits transfers etc  . So its easy for the fraudsters to pick up on my cell number & do the SIM swap, change my limits, open beneficiaries & transfer my life into the blue yonder.
So softness (-) says in her infinite wisdom, why not send all the notifications etc to a mobile number that is ONLY used for that purpose. Only the bank knows that number and because its an old sim card from a year ago no one else knows it exists. If there is fraud it must come from the bank.
SO I now have a notification number NO one else knows....
Makes you think doesn't it? Just my ZIM 2c worth

You just have to love South African banks.....

They charge you to put money into an account which you have to pay for..

Then they give you an interest rate that is laughable...

Then they charge you when you want to draw your own money...

And to cap it all off, if the money is fraudulently removed frfom your account it becomes your problem to prove it!

Little wonder Ponzi schemes are so popular - almost less risky! ## ## ##
