Tough Times

Postby kloot piloot » Wed Jul 22, 2009 9:29 pm

SA is in a depression. That we know by now.
Politically we are experiencing uncertain times with the ANC alliances' infighting. Good, it is high time that that gets sorted.

But it hurts me to see the "for sale" postings on this forum. Items are sold out of desperation.
It hurts me to see the little "traffic" and "activity" on this forum.

If you had to cut down on flying due to economic reasons, or if you had to sell your plane due to economic reasons, ... please don't leave this forum. This is a plea to you to remain a member of our flying family.

Once a pilot, always a pilot ! c vhpy

If you need a back-seat flip, or if you need the urge (kick) to hold that control bar again ... do not hessitate to ask members of this forum.

For those others out there fortunate enough, please offer as well.

Times are hard.....I cut down on food to fly. Unbelievable, I have lost some kilos and that also save me a few buck on fuel

Yes, I see lots of dreams up for sale. The times are hard indeed. I know the feeling. I had to part with my aircraft too, many years ago. I was thankfull for the bit of income it produced. It helped......but still could not keep me from bawling like a baby afterwards. But that is life. :(

Who own Currie Wot biplane ZS UFM now? Last I heard it was in Durbs??

Boet, I have just phoned my mate Bill Yeo, who owns UFM, he also has a 1947 Vagabond which he re built. The aerie has a rebuilt 60hp motor as he removed the 100 hp which was previously fitted it also has a rebuilt period panel with a old compass he traded somewhere, and a new fuel tank it is going to be fitted with a "Lewis gun" and a bomb. It is painted in the colours of the first SAAF planes namely a light brown scheme complete with roundels. He is slowly bringing the plane back to A1 condition as his time permits. That aircraft is in top hands trust me.

I will try to post some pics for you.

Ciao Paul

Airspeed, altitude, or brains....you always need at least two.
For Microlighters, you should only use two of the three, viz.

Brains, keyboard or amber liquid.

Be careful in terms of which two you choose. Have a good one. !!!!

Well said John.
Judging by the time of Spud's posting I think it was a few too many of the ambers. This kind of post does not belong on Microlighters. What started out as genuine empathy to those suffering hard times and kindness by suggesting to those who are still able to fly to share the gift with those who can't, has been soured.
I know this forum is not meant to get personal, but, Spud, you are welcome to take the next flight back to Ireland.
By now you should have learned that in SA the one thing more dangerous than drinking and driving is drinking and texting ##

Done it again have'nt I? Opened my huge mouth (Now where is the Hippo Avater?) to let out the frustrations I feel here and I did have several over the top last night but that is no excuse. Like a sherbert now and again but too much is not good. Excellent evening though.

I will delete my post and say no more about the country I now live in. If I cannot delete then the moderators should. I had no right to say what I said and I am truly sorry to have soured this topic as No7 has accused me of because that is what I have done. (**) (**)
