Faga Malasha

Postby Nkwazi » Fri Apr 10, 2009 9:27 pm

Faga Malasha - an expression we often used in Zambia in happy times, drunken times and times when our respective rugby teams were winning, times when we wanted our local bowler to bowl a bouncer and times when an old Rhodesian pilot (John Murphy) put his float plane down on the Mighty Zambezi between the hippo's, even times when we mourned a dearly departed good mwana (shamwari, friend, mfwetu, broer) Literally means "put charcoal". Is there an equivalent word here in the Republic?? I've been here for 6 years and yet to hear such a simple, expressive word or two??
