Hi guys,

I have been looking over the net to see what 3 axis microlights are available to purchase in RSA. One in particular i noticed was the Quicksilver MXL Sport which i thought was a great looking airie, however it is an Australian plane, and i dont know if the kit can be purchased in RSA. I also do not know anything about importing a kit, legal, CAA, insurances, costs and other important stuff which will effect the flying of an imported plane. Is there a web site that has a comparison of verious microlight specs?

Regards
Barry PMB

Check Junkmail. There have been a couple for sale recently. It is quiet an old design so many may need recovering and maybe engine work...

Historically the Quicksilver along with the Skyfox and the MAC CDL were among the first 2 and 3-axis aircraft available in SA. Very high drag, had a kingpost with a lot of cables supporting the wing from top and bottom. Best performance would be about 50 mph. The Quicksilver you are referring to is a new model, modern design etc. Get hold of the company and try and find if they already have a local distributor.

Other locally available 3-axis Microlights and Light Sport Aircraft are

Microlight
Bantam
Thunderbird
Challenger
Jora
Cheetah 582
Oribi
etc

LSA
Bushbaby
Cheetah 912
Savannah
Jabiru
etc
