Unless something happened yesterday that I don't know about the private airfield story has pretty much been shelved and CAA is working with the AOA (airfield owners association) to work out some deal where you basically will just supply detail of your field - no licensing as such.
As for micrlights not flying - please explain what you know. I'm sure quite a number of guys in the industry would like to hear about that.
Oh hang on - it' april 1..

And now I am advised that by the end of the year all microlights will be banned, and all
non-licenced private airfields will be illegal :(
Just as well I am unable to fly at the moment :!:
Hi Demon,

Not entirely true. I spoke to them yesterday about renewal of my lisence, and weather I can fly my trike on my ppl, and then they told me that they are going to make it increasingly dificult to get and renew a lisence for a microlight. And the first step is that everybody must go and write an exam on airlaw at least every 2 years, to keep current on the changing law.

Why do they always announce these things in April? Surely people are gullible all year round?

Hi Demon,

Glad to hear that you are back with a chuckle however this is no laughing matter. The airfields regulatory and legislative process is progressing an accommodation of airfield concerns so the insinuation that there should be tolerance of the diabolical framework with private operators just masks the JNNTCAWG (Joint National NonType Certified Aircraft Work Group) which resolved to withhold this information in line with the sensitivity thereof. As you all should know the only Trike Wing in SA to be load tested to destruction is the Aerossa Topless Wing and thus it is only these wings that will be permitted to fly. The Part 42.761(a) due to be signed off lists an exemption for 14 Aerossa Topless wings and all other weight shift wings have to be sand bag tested to destruction. The rebuild must be signed off to signed specification sheets in terms of 47.56(e) and proving flights must be completed within 100km of a specified manned airfield. The JNNTCAWG deliberated until 23h45 last night and if you hold your breath the committee is due to issue a pronouncement today after lunch.

I spoke to CAA and they vehemently deny ever saying this. They are now looking at finding the person who is spreading these unfounded rumours and applying his plane to the full ramp inspection.

Nice one for yesterday  8)

Ramp inspection is for paperwork, if the pile of scrap = microlight who knows it might pass
