16-19 March - no fly zone 50 NM from stadiums

Postby Stephan van Tonder » Mon Mar 02, 2009 8:21 pm

SO I assume everybody knows about this and I would like to find out - how are the other flight schools in the area going to handle this - you guys going to shut down for the week or try to get permission to fly. Basically one has to shut down your airfiled with the associated loss of income. Guess the organisers didn't thik or even care about that.
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

I also don't think there are may training trikes out there with transponders, so I doubt whether they will be granted permission (seeing that it is one of the documented requirements)!!! (**) ##

Yeah almost forgot about that. Where does one apply for loss of income for the week?.

F.... ridiculous ruling!!!

I am "wingless" at present whilst repairs take place, but on principle I may have taken off in this period and waited to be "intercepted".

What a load of bollocks!!!

So during 2010 no-one can fly???

Those making these rules and regs need to think things through a little better and look at real life.

Fortunately I do not have to rely on training for an income, but if I was in that position, I would be even more angry than just being angry at the ridiculous principle of the matter.

Seems to me this is a political rather than a sensible decision !!! ##

The hammer is for he/she who signed this stupid ruling off.

Nope, these restrictions do not apply to scheduled or state flights. (What ever a state flight is???)

You apperently can apply for permission the fly from SAAF. Somebody tried and couldn't get through. In theory if you can get permission then you will be allowed to fly with a filed flight plan and the aircraft MUST me transponder equipped. Which basically kills anything in the microlight class. The flying scholls are goin to lose thousands of rands in gauteng as they just about all fall in the 50nm exclusion zone. What a load of crock.

A state flight is one that your tax money pays for and has one of these demi gods on board.

Like the one where there was a landing gear failure, at FALA, and our esteemed, unnamed, minister feared for her life, while clutching her (^^) "little flask" ##

They will come and force you to the ground. How, I don't know.

If this is like all the other training sessions, we must all lodge flight plans to really flood their system.
