Consider a small detour

Postby John Young » Fri Dec 07, 2007 5:52 am

Hi Guys,

Would you consider a small detour :?:

Fuel available in Estcourt, meet you in Howick, (Midmar Dam is quite nice to see), give you all a brunch / lunch time braai at Light Flight and send you off to Ballito in the afternoon.

Morning Gents -

(Friday) 08h25

As we stand right now, Phil has told me that he will deliver the plane to RHino Park on Saturday morning - The whole bang shoot...

I have asked him to have it there by nine. So I guess Rudix - you will still be flying if we can all gather around that time...

Also we are going to need whatever tools the lads have??

Hi Dish,

Great, Yes, I will be there, have to do some work on the plane so I might be on the ground, if not I will be back no later than 10.

I will take my normal load of tools so we should have what we require unless there is some special tool (other than a hammer :D ) that we might need.

Lets hope the weather improves....

The only "special" tool is a really big socket for the redrive gear. I think it is in the region of 44

Dish good luck, let's see this adventure happen for you

I am really jealous but if things go according to plan I could be up in Jozy permanently from Feb 2008

Yip I have had issues with that redrive socket before... tried about 100 hardware stores but havent yet managed to find a big enough one... Braam had one that was slightly modified.... perhaps we can use that.

Haved loved my flying so far and will im sure love it again!!! Just need to get the plane sorted and everything will be back on track

Looking forward to having you up here my friend... :D

Great. !!!!

Braai will cater for all requirements (tastes) and provide a free meal (one less to worry about or plan) on the way.

Yeah – looking forward to meeting you know who.

Eva's Field

Postby John Young » Fri Dec 07, 2007 3:38 pm

TO:

Rudi and your “Intrepid Flying Gang” – here is an offer that you can’t refuse. !!!!
James Bentley wrote:Hi John

Good to chat to you on the phone, I look forward to meeting with you in person some time.

As suggested it would be great to have Rudi and his intrepid aviators stop over at my field on their way down to the coast as an alternate to Howick, we are close to the falls, Midmar and Albert falls which are all spectacular from the air at this time. My strip is 700m long and is adjacent to the Umgeni valley near Hilton College, approaches are clear from both sides. There is a boundry fence at the threshold of 17 which is well marked with a chequer board if coming in from the South, the other end is over the valley and our home. I shall send you the co-ordinates in a later email. Our place is in a very beautiful area and well worth a visit, Demon has been in a couple of times as well as the Crosswinds gang when they have visited KZN. I have attached a photo of the Rietfontein aviators on the field taken a couple of years ago.

We are closing our factory for the holidays next Friday so I should be at home so if you have a chance fly across some time during the holidays.

Cheers and regards

James Bentley
