AT LONG LAST, I got airborne this afternoon - even though I only had time for two circuits before it became dark!

She flies straight and nice with light roll and pitch input!

She MOVES - and I didn't even trim all the way to max speed On downwind with a light northerly at my back - I got a groundspeed of 93mph.

It is clear to me though that She MUST be respected at higher speeds!

Tomorrow morning at sunrise I have time to go fly an hour - will take pics as well. It flies different than it did - not worse - just different - like, more performance and more "nippy". We'll take it nice and slow untill we understand each other!

Overslept.... But this morning flew an hour out towards Chuenespoort and along the mountain and back! Getting used to the new wing, slowly but surely.

Tomorrow - on leave - of to a private strip 60 miles south of Poloks for my annual hunting trip.

TAILSPIN AND ZULU1: I got complimented this morning by the tower after my flight for the nice and crisp 5 out of 5 comms - in an open cockpit. Cheers, Airmagic!

Topless technology was introduced by La Moyette in hang gliders as far back as 1998. It has been refined and made safe by the likes of Wills Wings, Moyes, Airborne and Aeros. The wing (Jenya's included) has internal sprogs to counter for luff lines and wash-out battens.

Pitch becomes more sensitive, roll a bid heavier but otherwise, as safe as a house.

Go for it.

Vrydagoggend jagplaas toe gevlieg - 60miles, 40 minutes. Vanoggend terug - 50 minutes - maar bietjie afge-"slag" deur Zebediela gap - bietjie turbulence gehad!

I am getting accustomed to the trimmer now - very lekker to take of on slowest setting - get airborne quickly and climb like a bat out of hell! Then when on track, trim airspeed faster. In smooth air - I trim her to 70 mph IAS on my dial - any faster and it becomes difficult to keep the nose from "walking around" and induce oscillation. The front wheel on the Cobra proofs itself as an excellent rudder at this speed! When things get a bit bumpy, I trim her down to 65 - which still leaves room for going 70 by just putting a bit of back pressure on the bar, but makes it easy to get to 65 by releasing pressure when bumps hit. I love this. I can cruise at respectable speed, but I can also trim her airspeed down to 50- 55 mph and fly her more "playfully" - like with Geel Kerneels.

With the 582 - you do however naturally pay a price for flying 70 mph - fuel consumption. Straight and level @ 6000 rpm. Well, - you get there faster so... At slower speed settings the revs is on par with what I experienced with my Aquilla.
