Hi Guys

I wrote “we can do the race but when we are ready”, please relax guys. I also would like to see the Thunderbolt ST go up against the QuikR. We are still busy with the Thunderbolt has you can see on the photo so give it time guys. Remember this is still the prototype and with all the changes we made, we must test again.

Sorry! If any body feels that I stepped on there toes, I did not mean to.

I smell some humble pie!!!!!!

I have to agree with Alex on this one though! I dont think it is safe to "race" the Thunderbolt without ALL the propper tests being done first! BUT I also feel that the Thunderbolt SHOULD NOT be compared to any aircraft including the GT / GTR untill the tests are completed! When the test are complete you can have a race and THEN ONLY can you compare the various aircraft and make remarks about price, speed ect!
Until then no more ($$) ($$) ($$) on GT this Thunderbolt that! Complete Aircraft - Race - Compare - end of story

Hi Guys

Can I also play???? I'm sorry, I only have a measly 85 HP, so I might battle a bit, but I think I could give you a good run for your money. Surely this isnt only going to be for Samoosa flyers, how about some real aeries???

Good afternoon ladies and gentleman.

This is quit a nice topic I must say. I have only few comments. Number 1.
1. Agree that we all should give Alex a fair time span to complete all his testing etc..
2. I can't see how Alex stepped on someone's toes because of his remarks. A very good way of advertising is to focus on weak points of your oponents and bring them too light. Also focus where you can improve on other's weak points AKA competitive advantage.(Like bigger 4x4 tyres compared to Graco baby pram tyres )
3. You guys know the saying, two dogs fighting for a bone and the 3rd one taking it (Please check picture below)

Now can we all agree and just go with the COBRA? (!!)

Couple comments.
Balls to t wall is n aviation term.

Why not tikenise it abit.
Best I can come up with is
 The big pull (as in bar as opposed to other .....) Die groot TREK... Nice themes you could run with here
 Bar vs belly chllenge
 Pedal to the pod
 VNE - Very nearly enuff
 Moesa Samoosa dice (bling bling an all dat)

am sure gaylord or one of the other mal oukes could come up with something to aptly describe the situation. Bottom line is go as fast as you can. In a blik that balls (balls on top of levers) to the (fire) wall, thus the name. Does not make sense in trike environ?

Maybe have some fun with it. Demon's cartoonist from Trix mag could come up with a logo.

I can't see why 3 axis cant be involved as well although the SAPFA balls to the wall race on 18 Aug at FARG will cater for any 3 axis aerie.....

Demon, I think thats probably all they'll see of me, for a short while anyway!!! But, Im up for the challenge!!

So, lets devise a method.

You shouldnt compare a 912 S with a 582, so a handicap must be given for difference in HP. Clever guys, work it out!!

3 axis should also be invited, max AUW 600kg, also with a HP handicaqp. ML only - or LSA etc

This should become an annual microlighters event, rotated around the country????

Considering that we use our feet to control the much sought after speed, and due to the average age of the pilots involved, may I propose we call it "The Great Bunion Challenge - Best foot Forward!" (C). We could try get a sponsorship from Scholl for winner prizes. Alternatively, we could call the race 'The Athletes Foot - Scratch the itch with Speed!'

Becoming a most interesting topic indeed.

You either have a "I am faster than you" race, involving the current debate between GT and WW (Whirlwind), or make it a combined handicap race (as per PTAR), yet with a logger judging the fastest around the circuit. And that again will declare a 3-axis winner, a trike winner and a woer-woer winner, each in her own class.

Ain't that dainty ?

RV4ker, maybe a miniature test run at FARG 18th early morn' or late afternoon ?

Head-ache though: how and where do you start with the handicaps ? Manufacturer's claimed cruise speeds ?
