Hey Dish, no worries mate, if all that comes from this thread is that we get you in the air I will be really happy
If I get no one who wants/can to join my adventure that is no problem, I have done it alone before and I will do it again, I have a few destinations planned already.
Emil, I should be on the ground by 10am but I am not sure about the other guys.
I am hoping (WX depending) to do a longer flight on Sunday, will see......

Thanks !
I think we should start planning for this "Round SA via the coast" trip soon, I know there are many guys who would love that, we can do it in such a way that people can join anywhere along the circle and still do a complete lap or shorter trip.
Regards,
Rudi
PS, love your project, can't wait to see it fly !

All this flying talk makes me want to go and do it !
I would rather be here........

Cruising slowly going nowhere in particular, flying from one point of interest to the next while taking photos, than sitting where I am right now....

Hey Dish, I gave you a call to come fly in the GT the other day but you never answered.
Sorry 4 you.
weather permitting, the focker and I are leaving next Thursday. Stops Aliwal north, EL, up the coast to Port edward then inland to Dragon Peaks in the Berg and then back to Rietfontein.
Trying to arrange fuel, accommodation etc and then pray for good Wx.

Ok, getting back on track....
Here is a rough idea of what I am thinking of.

I still need to finalize the actual stops, need to look at fuel/food/accommodation availability.
The total distance is just less than 800 miles, with a bit of sight seeing the total distance flown will be quite a bit more. It should be an easy 3-4 day trip with plenty time for sight seeing.
The other option is to fly north, but the coast is calling :D

That would be great, it would be more fun with a couple of planesemil wrote:Rudi that looks like an awsone trip..maye we can get oom Agent to talk to the owener of the C42..and we can go with

There could be many variations on the trip, depending on weather things might change even along the way, on the way down Standerton, Newcastle and Dundee might be options as well.
Any other ideas ? Anyone ?

The leg distances, some of the runways along the way may be skipped but the way it is there are no really long legs.

With only 200-300 miles per day there would be no need to fly in the heat of the day with most distance covered in the morning leaving the rest of the day for other activities with maybe local sight seeing flights in the late afternoon.

Yes, the Sting is nice but you would disappear into the distance while we are still "smelling the roses" :Demil wrote:i can get the sting but that would be to fast...want aplane we can fly some formo in as well...let me talk to oom Agent..and lets work HARD on the Dish (monster) plane...
I am not so sure the Sting would do well with any beach landings

An option might be to put the wings on the Shadow and use that, other than 2 small brackets it is ready to go. It would be best to treat it as a single seater though unless you have a short PAX and little luggage. I have done 2 hours in the back seat and it got a bit cramped......
