Re: Secunda Airshow and Fly in 20th August.
Things are happening in top gear. The graders, rollers and tipper trucks have gone, the rain/ snow/ ice has settled the dust and the tents, towers e.t.c. are sprouting up like mushrooms.
We're fielding calls from all over. The Graceland hotel along with the Umuzi Waterfront hotel are fully booked.
This is a trike/ microlight/ gyro and general aviation friendly jol and everyone is encouraged to fly in. Our airwaves are used to some tweetalig banter. You should have heard the boere geselsing with the Taliban airways when they were training here.
The ATNS besides providing radio service is also manning an exhibition stand (PE and OR Tambo ATC), along with the weather service and a weather station on site. So, intoduce yourself and offload all your fears and premonitions.
Friday evening when we test drive the beer garden and enjoy a sponsored potjie we'll oil them up for a good Saturday's show.
Tailspin, I can get you a doctors note far more impressive than a broken leg.
There's Cirrus, a Dynaero, new Ela gyro, a Pipistrel Virus, the awesome Ibis and more on display and available for introductory flips on Sunday along with a few unbelievable second hand bargains for sale on display.
There will also be a pilots shop exhibiting so come and update all your maps e.t.c.
DSTV are providing a massive screen to show the Springboks/ All Blacks game followed by top class entertainment at the beer garden.
The weather prediction is showing min 6 to 23 degrees clear skies- awesome.
Those staying on Saturday night and who might be tired of jaffles, boerewors rolls, vetkoek, pannekoek from our churches and charities can order a decent braai pack with fires lit straight after the last display.
There will be fantastic raffles taking place- weekend getaways for 2 from our sponsors Graceland Casino to several of their resorts for;
All Fly in pilots and pax,
All aircraft exhibitors,
All display pilots.
See you here.

Hi all,
As murphy will have it I am going to miss out on this one...
Went to do pre-flight on the trike this morning and found that my front tyre has given in...
Well I can only get tyres from Dominator next week....
Enjoy and fly safe everyone....I believe this is going to be an awesome event.

Hi Tumbleweed.
Just to confirm, no funny stuff.
ATC on duty, change freq to 122.00 and call five miles out. Circuits to the north of the airfield.
Seeya.

What a fantastic event. One of the biggest I have been to.
Joined forces with Bonzai Bell, Ozzie and Big man, yip in his gyro
, and went through for the day.
Unfortunately was a bit slow with the camera, but heard a lot of clicking through the day, so pretty sure some pics will follow.

Re: Secunda Airshow and Fly in 20th August.
Tumbleweed thanks for a great show and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Everything was so well organised and you guys really went the extra mile to accomodate all the different aircraft. Was also really great to meet some names like Gaylord Focker, Bluemax, Astyerix, Dish , etc. Finally I can put names to faces altough gaylords is one that will take some counselling to forget !
. The flight back took twice as long as the one there and when you see Nigel in the distance and an hour later it is stil distand you know you are not flying a GT 450. Was flying into a headwind and at time the spEed on the groundtrack was 17 mph! Here are some pics I took so that the ones that did not pitch can regret that they missed it.

Re: Secunda Airshow and Fly in 20th August.
Have to agree with Boomerang - Great Show Tumbleweed, congrats - I hope next year is in the planning?
After taking off this morning BlueMax BugWar and me saw our groundspeed drop to below 20 mph -
- we decided that there is no way we are gonna sit in trikes and battle to get to Microland for three hours - so turned south - 20 minutes later landed at my family's farm. Groundspeed up to 90mph at some stages
All three trikes safely stored away for collection this Saturday - if the blooming weather plays along. Got back to Gauteng courtesy of the "Mrs. BugWar Liftclub" - thanx Sonica - really appreciated.

Yes, and thanks from me too. Very nice, and the camping area we moved to later yesterday made us enjoy the evening so much more - no worries about the trikes .Must say the landing at Leeuwkop made for some interesting moments with this wind coming from the side - we must surely make somebody responsible for organising the weather next time! It was very nice to meet all you guys like Boomerang said - now just to meet the other 50 guys who would have flown in! I suppose they are still on their way?
