I thought I would give posting my map and flight details here (nothing quite as good as gert does!) to keep people updated on what and where I am flying.

Although I am still confined to the area around our airfield, this may be interesting to look at:-

Saturday Morning we had another visit from gallivanting DH. This time the wind was a little variable with gusts every now and then. Me, being on 3-axis decided to go up any way. DH kept on telling us that they would never fly in these conditions and CLU-less was undecided. So I went up as guinea pig and the conditions were a little bumpy but fine.

At the same time Gerhard, whose pseudonym I can't remember, (please forgive me  ) arrived to have a look at the Challengers. We had chatted on Microlighters and he was keen on seeing both the clipped and long wing versions. He was also talking of beginning his MPL. I got Stephan in the long Wing to take him up, as I was expecting DH to fly with me.

CLU-less decided to go and DH having an identical trike to CLU-less jumped in the back to try it out at sea level.
Off we went along the coast and back to Morning Star.

DH was quite chuffed that he had gone up in conditions he personally wouldn't have tackled and found it not to be too bad. In fact CLU-less, finally managed to get his camera working and this time DH jumped at the opportunity to go again.

I stayed back at the hangar getting the fire ready for the Boerie Braai. Once DH returned the normal bought of serious drinking started.

I flew 50 minutes

Well done

It's going to be at FAFK. One of my biggest considerations was convenience ito groundschool flexibility. The other schools offer most classes during week evenings which makes it nearly impossible for me. I'll be wrecked to travel 350 kms twice during the week at night time :?

FAFK is also waiting for approval to offer PPL (which I will be doing) on same aerie as for MPL, kill 2 birds with one stone.

IF the CAPE doctor behaves, I'll have my 1st lesson SAT am. :D

Next time I join you for a "boerie" ........from the sky.

0.7 hours this morning :D :D

Did 5 circuits and then flew over to Tala Valley. Spotted rhino, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, impala and hippo.

Where else in the world can one go for a quick flip before work and see that diversity of wild-life? All this before 7:30am :D :D

We truly live in the most beautiful and diverse country in the world.

What a day! :D :D :D :D

Started with a sleep-in until 7, (student cancelled), from 10:30 flips along the coastline in my trike in a perfect on-shore wind (saw lots of whale-sharks, some dolphins, plenty turtles, amd a couple of big rays), flew to FAVG in the Dragon, did an hour solo in a Piper 140, flew back in the Dragon, towed my skygod with the Dragon and then ended the day with a sunset hang-glider tow to 2500', finishing off with a beer and a couple of friends... what a day!!! :D :D :D

Some of us don't get to fly on Flydays but in the mornings is even better.

Did my first serious cross country yesterday with Dieselfan as my pax. We flew from Petit via Pinidene corridor to Hartbeespoort dam and then on to Mooinooi where we landed and re-fueled (Yes, it's called Mooinooi!). All in all it was a 277km round trip and the most awesome scenery I have seen yet.
Anyone from Microland/Petit/Baps who fears flying in controlled airspace via Pinedene - Take it from me: It's easy - I posted a topic "Pinidene Route" and in there Cloudbase gave all the radio procedures in detail. i studied it and it was easy (thanks Cloudbase).
Hopefully Dieselfan will post some pics of our expeditition - He shot 300 photo's so one or 2 are bound to be good!

Sorry to have missed you demon but we left the beacon area just after 15h00 and were off the farm by around 15h30. If I ever drive / walk to another f*#@ing rock circle again......  Did learn quite a bit about the area's history though 8)
