Did my 400th solo hour today. A nice early morning flight via Wintervogel, where I waited somewhat for a trike to backtrack 02. Must be an instructor on hourly pay. Then via coast to Morningstar. See http://www.zu-dve.com

The extended winter and winds have limited flying hours. I have received a new de Necker prop and after reading the manual have decided installation should not be done by myself. I might end up flying backwards with a rattle and a bang. Anyone in CT prepared to help?!

Hi Gert
Just remember that the hub bolts on the De Necker are slightly longer than on the Warp so make sure you have them when you go to the airfield. I'll bring my torque wrench and Morph and myself will help you set the tracking and so on. You missed an interesting trip to Ysterplaat AFB. Landed in 3 meters. Hectic wind.
I sometimes get confused............But i'm not sure

See I am confused already, the prop came like this - no bolts, no plates. Where can I buy the bolts, what diameter, length (prop 83mm wide), type? Do I need special plates?

Thanks guys!

Hi Gert. 8mm x 100mm cap screws and I used the same plate that was used on my Warp prop. The nuts are M8 nylock type. Some guys have small holes drilled through the bolt head for safety wire but i haven't had a problem with them coming loose.

Gert
Can you tell us a bit about your decision to change props and the choice of the de Necker?

My warp prop has been patched so many times that I thought it is time for a new one. Having tried one, I thought I would try the other. Besides, it looks better.

The two pictures - (1) the plates on the warp - will they be OK for the deNecker and (2) a new family member. The bigger dog, Coffee had his second laparotomy for obstructed bowel three weeks ago, and has had seperation anxiety ever since he returned from the vet (8K later). So I got him a friend yesterday. The new one is called Ginja, and has blue eyes and is almost completely white. Not a good start in the new SA.
