What about Radio Lichtenburg? Heard it some time ago while passing through town. It was funny as hell. The presenters sounded like they were 18 years old. Typical good mannered Afrikaans boys. They had a guest on the show to talk about something and kept calling the older gentleman "Oom". In the backround you could hear something sounding like a lawn mower. Maybe they transmitted from their garage.

Passing by Hartebeespoort I also see signs for Bosveld Radio. Anybody heard about that?

It's weird, but those of us who hate RAW must be in the minority, becasue it just got voted top station for the umpteenth time, which just goes to show. Exactly what, I don't know, but it sure goes to show.

I am a huge Monty Python fan, ever since I first saw "And now for something completely different" during O week at Wits in 1974.

Apart from the "obvious" MPFC skits, like the parrot, I like the throwaway lines in many of them. Like in the interview with the guy with 3 bum cheeks... "Is that chair comfortable?"

And in the architect sketch...

"Are you intending to slaughter our tenants?'

"Does that not fit in with your plans?"

And their official audience numbers have just in this last review cycle hit the highest it has ever been. Daar was baie mense dat was nie so gelukkig nie wanneer Algoa afrikaanse uitsaaings verminder (excuse my Afrikaans - I am a Welshman - but did marry an Afrikaanse vrou Still wonder why coz they always say no twice ).

The programmers have financial incentives to grow the audience, so they will do what works for most. We need to take cognisance of the fact that the demographic of the audience here on this web is not representative of the audience at large. If it was - change would have taken place.
