Well this is certainly one way and bit of proof to shut all the doomsday Apollo missions anti moon landings brigade up....:)

Lunar rocks brought back from the surface, these rocks have been analized by universites around the world, geo physical companies, thousands of scientists, by now they would have been called fake if they were fake? I've never heard anybody challenge the lunar rocks authenticity...

Read up that lunar rocks suggest that a smaller planet slammed into Earth 4.5 billion years ago, creating the moon and enlarging the Earth. They tell the tale of a storm of space debris violently pounding both the Earth and moon, perhaps triggered by a dramatic reshuffling of the entire solar system.

Furthermore, some of the mare basalts have very high levels of titanium (in the form of ilmenite). A new mineral found on the Moon was armalcolite, named for the three astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission: Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins.

I think a lot of the anti moon hype has some element with anti American rhetoric, people hate success, need to challenge the top dog, for despite the US coming under fire and slipping the last few years, the country still is a world leader in some incredible technology and more importantly posseses the right attitude to explore and learn, perfect, I think many feel threatened by this.... and nobody, just nobody is able to match them when it comes to doing effecient aviation, notably GA.

The mighty USSR imploded trying to compete in all else besides space exploration, and whilst I applaud the Russians and their attempts and their brave crews, they simply were not in the same class as NASA. I mean the rocks is the proof! :)  ($$) ($$)

Well I am getting a little deep here so it's time to shut up....a few Americans saved my life and I went commercial in that country, I guess I'm biased!!

Of course it was a hoax. Just shows you how gullible the majority of humankind is.
What even baffels me even more, is that there are people that actually believe that the earth is round. I know it is flat. It has been proven.
Making people believe that the earth is round was the first part of the hoax, a foundation, then followed the bullshit of space travel.

There is no space. The sky is a blue inverted soup bowl suspendende over the flat earth. I know that. I have seen a DVD where all that has been explaind.
Those You-Tube clips are just pirated parts of the DVD. Get the DVD and you will understand all of this.

But what about the rocks - the ROCKS, the LUNAR ROCKS Arnulf? ...... ## ##  puff

On a serious note I had a mate who actually liked the flat earth theory, he now does understand and appreciate it is actually an oblate spheroid ie, it is slightly flattened at the poles... but even before the teens fligh levels one can see the curve of the earth, notably at the coast looking seaward...

Err u really believe the flat earth theory Arnulf? :o

Why then do we get convergency on charts, notably on Lamberts charts - if the earth was flat there would be no convergency, and with most aero charts we use Lamberts conformal conic which means that a straight line drawn on the chart is a great circle , longitude and meridians will converge towards the poles proving earth is a sphere...so when one flies a long nav - really long one actually alters heading slightly all the time as one is following a an arc of a great circle...
If the earth was flat then a lamberts chart would not be able to be constructed.

Of course the earth is flat. Thats why I only got an Aquilla. At the speed it flies, I hope i will be able to see the edge of the earth in time so I can turn around. Flying a GT 450 would just stress me too much, too fast to turn in time. Flying off the edge of the earth would be too ghastly to contemplate. I once flew low level over the edge of the escarpment at God's Window in Mpumalanga, and that was scary enough.

Moon rock. Now there is an unexpected new angle. If you take that the moon was most likely created by 2 bodies colliding in space. It must be take into account that materials in one, will also be in the other.

Your so called armalcolite, is also found on earth(and in south Africa as well, what a co-incidence).

Not really proof.

As someone said, it is actually more difficult to prove that the moon landing happened in 1969, than to proof it did not happen.

Heh, he on a Trike you have that valid theory!!   On a positive side you enjoy the scenery and thrill of open air flying... :)

Well that new element was NEVER found on earth at all the earth craters sites... :) and the scientific community would certainly have raised an issue if they did, - they never did...

Sheesh I'm amazed and pretty intrigued and proud that pilots got to space and eventually the moon, some of the astronauts were flying J3 cubs Stearmans and a host of other light aircraft before they joined the forces....
We are part of the same community, I'm proud and humbled to belong.... so should you be it that you fly a micro light or a 747...

You are free to make up your own mind about the Lunar landings, I suggest a visit to the Kennedy Space Centre, a chat to some of the folk there, if you come still believing that it did not happen, fair enough.... but then you have weighted and balanced opinion... :)

Its all bulls#%it. They collected those rocks in the Kuiseb Canyon in the Namib Desert. Its all on the DVD I got. And btw, they only show some stones. Now suddenly those stones grew into rocks. All just a bunch of liars.

Thats all nonsense. They thought out all that hogwash so that the CAA can give pilots a hard time. I never look on a map, and I always found the Bronkhorstspruit dam.

Believe a DVD with todays IT technology able to "doctor" almost anything over a visit to the Space Centre.... your choice.. :)

Lamberts Conformal Projection is not some CAA thing to makes pilots lives harder, used all over the world it is is the sectional u use for everyday planning and VFR navigation, have a look at the bottom of your 1:1000 000 or 1:500 000 or smaller scale chart and you will note the words Lamberts Conformal Projection, I agree the plotting exams the CAA offer are OTT and mostly irrelevant, but the real world sectional is not ... and a basic understanding in navigation planning/plotting and map use is essential skills for a pilot to ensure safe and informed xcountries...

Well I'm timing out :)

I hope I'll see a manned mars mission in my life time....or even another Lunar landing soon, maybe we will have google moon sometime and we can check things out in real time... :)

Tks for the hearty debate it's been fun...I'm off to follow the Sling and crews progress...

I suggest a visit to the Kennedy Space Centre, a chat to some of the folk there,
The once was a tent on the Durban beachfront advertising " Dancing bears - only R50.00 entrance.
Once inside the sign read, "Thanks for supporting our charity April's Fools Day. If you were suckered, tell everyone to come witness the dancing bears" :)

I think the sign in the space centre will read" Thanks in maintaining interest in space travel. We need your support to get grants from the government (which they're happy to do so they can justify not paying the UN outstanding monies, eleviate their own poverty and re-grow the Amazon rain forest)"

If they could shrink the computor chip from a rugby field size to fit in a cellphone, they should have had breakfast fly-ins to the moon already. They hav'nt even found Bin Laden or weapons of much destruction.

Arnulf Some okes are just gullible.
